Hey
@Spotify
, I just had a great idea - why not give THIS podcast, Escape From Vault Disney, the $100 million deal instead?
We talk about movies and TV shows available on Disney+, and we've never ONCE propagated misinformation about a deadly virus!
Think about it.
Y'know, when part of your job involves maintaining an alphabetical list of absolutely everything on
@DisneyPlus
, sometimes you notice some interesting groupings.
So far we've recorded the first two episodes of What Would Walt Have Done? Month and we've already discovered a Disney movie from the 70s with a scene where the protagonists throw Molotov cocktails at a Klan rally.
No, I'm not kidding.
Now that all five episodes of Not On Disney+ Month have been released, at long last, HERE is the complete Not On Disney+ Month shortlist!
This list was compiled and curated by ME and me alone. Undoubtedly some of your favorites aren't on here. Sorry bout that.
If the idiot actually does this then I can't do livetweets anymore. Or, voting can no longer be part of the process, I'd have to just start livetweeting the first thing the randomizer picks. I always liked the voting part, it made it more fun and interactive. Fuck you Elon.
Unfortunately, after exhausting every available and affordable option, I have no choice but to declare the Jungle Animal Rescue episode a lost episode.
My sincerest apologies.
Okay, I've made up my mind.
In solidarity with the
#DisneyDoBetter
walkouts this week, I am postponing the release of this podcast's next full episode.
Here's how long and in-depth the Emperor's New Groove episode is:
We don't even get around to talking about the DINER SCENE until an hour and 26 minutes into it.
It will finally, at long last, be released tonight. I promise.
(clears throat)
If anyone, by any remote chance, felt like making short animated segments using audio from Escape From Vault Disney (like they do with Game Grumps), no one who works on this podcast would object.
Just sayin'.
It's been over a week since the Arendelle Castle Yule Log: Cut Paper Edition episode dropped, so at long last, here's what you've all been waiting for...
...PICTURES OF CHERRY AS THE NEW SANTA CLAUS!!!
WE HAVE A WINNER! The people have spoken, the results are in, and March 2024 will officially be WHAT WOULD WALT HAVE DONE? MONTH on Escape From Vault Disney!!!
VOTE NOW! You have one week to vote on these final four. Polls close at Midnight Pacific on Valentine's Day, then we'll announce this year's champion on Thursday, February 15!
Tony here. After dealing with Vic stans all day (after supporting
@MarzGurl
after she got locked out of her account) the Vic stans have now locked ME out of my main account,
@tonygoldmark
, for twelve hours.
No. Those episodes are all time capsules of when they were made and I feel it would be cowardly to try to rewrite history like that. I have, however, added disclaimers to their descriptions strongly condemning Mr. Carrozza's heinous misconduct.
A few days ago, we recorded what will be our last EFVD episode of 2021.
The subject is, EASILY, one of the top five worst movies we've ever covered on this podcast.
Stay tuned.
So...I don't know if it's appropriate for me to do a Disney+ livetweet this week. I'll do one if y'all REALLY want me to, but I'd like to gauge interest first.
If this tweet gets 100 likes or more, I will do one. If not, no hard feelings, I'll do one next week.
At long last, it's THE ESCAPE FROM VAULT DISNEY 100TH EPISODE SPECTACULAR!!!
Because you demanded it, we're covering the 2008 talking dog movie BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA, and
@tonygoldmark
is joined by (deep breath)...
Welp...the people have spoken.
And evidently, people are basically cruel.
Beverly Hills Chihuahua: The Escape From Vault Disney 100th Episode Spectacular.
10-12-22
(chihuahua!)
Whichever one of those four gets the most votes in this poll will be the topic of our 100th episode!
You have until next Wednesday, the 21st, at 11AM Pacific, so VOTE NOW!!!
Still editing this week's episode...y'know, I wasn't necessarily EXPECTING our discussion of Mickey's Once Upon A Christmas to turn into a lengthy discourse on the evils of late-stage capitalism, but sometimes life throws you curveballs.
Appropriately enough, this week's episode on the original animated 1951 Alice In Wonderland will be exactly two days slow.
I'll release it to my patrons on Thursday, and publicly on Friday. Thank you all, as always, for your kind patience and indulgence.
Sigh.
I thought three weeks would be long enough.
But, even for a three-week editing period, my ambitions got the better of me.
I'm gonna need some extra time to finish the 100th episode, folks. Dunno exactly how much. Thank you all for your kind patience and indulgence.
There's lots of podcasts out there, but not too many where we instantly segue from discussing the importance of consent to discussing the long illustrious career of Frank Welker, and somehow the link involves vampires.
VOTE NOW! You have a week to vote on these final four, polls close at 11:59PM Pacific on Valentine's Day, then we'll announce our champion on Wednesday, February 15!
So unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to finish the Great Muppet Caper episode by the end of the weekend. Instead, I'm just gonna retroactively call this an off-week, release the GMC episode on Wednesday the 18th and proceed as normal with weekly episodes from there.
Unfortunately, after exhausting every available and affordable option, I have no choice but to declare the Jungle Animal Rescue episode a lost episode.
My sincerest apologies.
i just recorded the first return episode of the podcast
hooooooly shit
not gonna spoil a word of it, just...thank you so much for your request
@RobSnatcher
, holy shit thank you
Still editing the next episode. (It'll be ready later this week, promise!) You know it'll be a good one when someone says "You either die a Tigger or live long enough to see yourself become Rabbit."
I won't spoil it, but the podcast episode I just recorded was on one of the most infamous flops in Disney history. A film that, despite its initial reception, has become a cult classic with many defenders.
Those defenders are smoking crack. The movie in question is garbage.
I gotta say, for all the difficulty I've had with this particular episode, I'm not sure I've ever laughed more while editing a podcast. Can't wait for y'all to hear this one.
We just recorded an episode on the DUMBEST fucking movie we've ever covered on this podcast, and y'all know that's saying something. (And no, I have not forgotten about Meet the Deedles.)
The episode drops in about three weeks. Can't wait to share it.
Editing the next episode. You know it'll be a good one when someone says "You have a magic cookie, you live in a restaurant that makes magic cookies, and you just spend your old age just pranking white people?"
We recorded two episodes of the podcast yesterday. Not gonna spoil the topics, but they were both on things with MASSIVE fanbases, and I have a feeling that in both cases, some of the stated opinions will REALLY piss off said fanbases.
Stay tuned.
As promised, the new episode is now up on the usual outlets for those who want to hear it. If it's all the same to everyone, I'd like to hold off on properly promoting it until things calm down a little. Stay safe, everyone.
Today I recorded an episode of the podcast which is currently scheduled to drop on February 3rd.
In all the months I've been doing this, it's the first time I've been reasonably sure that my take on the movie in question will make me some ENEMIES.
Stay tuned.
I think I can confidently say that I'm currently editing the first-ever High School Musical-related podcast episode to include both a lengthy discussion on how capitalism affects which holidays become famous, AND an impromptu parody of "Last Christmas" about fucking a car.
It's finally done! After a month-long delay due to a very stupid technical fiasco, it's Episode
#108
, in which
@tonygoldmark
is joined by
@Renie_Rivas
,
@TVsKyle
and the Twitterless Nicholas Bogroff Ganssle to cover THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL!
So unfortunately, this week's episode won't be ready to release for a few more days. Like many of you, I spent all last week glued to social media anxiously awaiting election results instead of editing. But it's coming!
Editing this coming week's episode. You know it'll be a good one when someone says "This cartoon about ducks for children did not need to reference Evil Dead, but it went there."
Editing the new episode. You know it'll be a good one when someone says "To be fair, he does answer the bold cinematic question, 'What would it look like if Colonel Mustard fucked BB-8?'"
It's very important to me that you all know that at one point on the next episode, one of my guests from the Princess Protection Program episode tried to call back to that movie, but couldn't remember the name and instead called it "Princess Rescue Club."
So many "weird kids" in movies are "weird" only in the most superficial, dumb ways.
The writers of this movie clearly WERE weird kids, and remember what it was like.
So, bad news, folks: this week's episode of the podcast, covering the 2003 remake of Freaky Friday, will not be ready for release today. It was a rough week and I didn't have as much time to edit as usual. Hopefully tomorrow.
We just recorded an episode - scheduled for release in August - which finally answers the eternal question, "What would it look like if Captain Planet made fetish porn?"
Stay tuned.
I'm really sorry it's been taking me so long to finish the Fox and the Hound episode. Hopefully it'll finally be ready early next week. Thank you all so much for your kind patience.
So unfortunately, it doesn't look like this week's episode is gonna be ready today. In my defense, it's a REALLY long one. Currently aiming for tomorrow.
Okay, so as many of y'all have pointed out, today
@disneyplus
started beta-testing kinda-sorta adding Hulu, and all its content, to itself in America. And many of y'all have asked if this will affect the podcast.
Short answer: no. At least, not yet.
He was, in fact, on the very episode I was in the midst of editing when I learned of his arrest.
I have decided not to release that episode publicly. MAYBE I'll release it to my patrons someday, no promises though.
Almost done editing the first return episode of the podcast...you know it'll be a good one when someone says "Usually we just glue a buncha crabs together."
While editing the upcoming Davy Crockett and the River Pirates episode (coming later this week, promise!) I was reminded of something.
Are you fine people aware that "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" was once covered by TIM CURRY?
(For the record, he WAS being all three of those things. He claimed
@MarzGurl
had issued threats, then repeatedly deflected when I asked for proof. Man, you'd REALLY think they'd keep proof at-the-ready more often, considering how often they obnoxiously demand it.)
@VileAgatha
@Konacha37
@ilgraham82
@efvdpodcast
Uh… yeeeeeeeeeeees… you’re sweet dearest grandmama! So there’s no reason to send out those super-mutant-crabs with the Plasma Canons that have “BURN COUNTRY BEAR HALL!!! DAMN YOU TONY!!!!” written all over them, right?
So here's what this means for the podcast:
First of all, the reason this week's episode is so damn late is because I haven't been feeling well, and...well, now we know why.
But the new episode WILL finally be publicly released a bit later today or tonight.
I have tested positive for COVID.
So far my symptoms are pretty standard and light - fever, runny nose, fatigue, some coughing, and a sore throat (though it only really hurts when I try to speak).
There's lots of podcasts out there, but not too many where one person references Shakespeare's Julius Caesar and another person references Ghostbusters at literally the exact same time, talking over each other.
...Okay, if the randomizer ever picks THIS, I will exempt it from my "two months between NatGeo episodes" rule if need be. This is the only one that gets a special pass.
Merry Christmas everyone! It's episode
#107
, our final Christmas episode of the year, in which
@tonygoldmark
is joined by some very special guests to cover the one-and-only ARENDELLE CASTLE YULE LOG!
From now on (not including this week, sorry) every week when I DON'T have an episode ready to release on Wednesday, I will make up for it with a bonus minisode of some sort AND a livetweet like the ones I did last summer.
Escape From Vault Disney will be going on a brief hiatus from now until the end of January. In the meantime we'll still be doing a livetweet every Thursday, and a minisode every other Wednesday.
New episodes return starting on Groundhog Day, 2/2/22!
And while I'll never (intentionally) devote another full episode to anything that isn't on Disney+ ever again, starting next week I WILL release a series of minisodes wherein
@doggans
and I briefly say a word or two about every last item on this list. Stay tuned!
I'll make up for it by having the same guests, including
@AniMat505
, back on the show for a different topic some time in the next month or so.
Hey, at least it was just a NatGeo episode right?
Hmm...kinda hope this doesn't happen, it'd throw the whole point of the podcast out of wack.
I'm sure I'd find ways to adjust, but it wouldn't quite be the same.
@efvdpodcast
After the mass removals from Disney Plus this morning, the Escape from Vault Disney Graveyard now consists of the following titles that were previously covered on the podcast. And half of them are Disney Plus originals!:
There's lots of podcasts out there, but not too many where we riff on an album-only Monty Python bit AND the name of a former surgeon general who hasn't been in office for decades, both at the same time and within the context of praising a movie's special effects.
It's officially February, which means it's time once again to vote on which THEME MONTH we devote all five weeks of March to on Escape From Vault Disney!
Last year, the winner was Parks Month. The year before, Muppet Month. What'll win this year? Let's start voting and find out!
