Not sure what the solution is, or if there really is one. Might just be an inherent result of the Pandora’s Box of the Internet. But think there should be a conversation about how social media facilitates violent extremism before we start blaming relatively normal Dems and Rs.

You didn’t accidentally become a militant Marxist or neo-Nazi 50 years ago. The allure of internet anonymity and interconnectedness has created pipelines, echo chambers and feedback loops where I don’t know if that’s still the case today.

Inevitable scramble to find perpetrator’s voting record, Twitter history, etc., these sorts of actions are not a symptom of ideology. They’re a symptom of unprecedented interconnectedness that’s allowed impressionable people to hold insane views and have them reaffirmed.
