Guildhouse discourse on the TL is so funny because all these qrt’ers lack the context that Guild only recently switched to BO5 top 8 as opposed to T4, doesn’t normally have two events, and is sharked by the best Palu in the world so the avg consumer isn’t making 1st place payout.

9th/102 at the reno regional (d tier event!!), was able to clean up my play in losers after the reno crowd kinda farmed me 😭 it’s all love though, had a blast, and def need exp with crowds like that. beat some good players like widara and major and others !. #whiteboysummer

Also worth considering the majority of the Bay Area smash players are college/high school students who generally go to quite competitive schools and don’t have the disposable income to go from what was already NorCal’s most expensive local to something even more expensive.
