With Sackett v. EPA, SCOTUS ignored precedent "to eliminate protections for more than a hundred million acres of sensitive wetlands."   But what's worse?  As @sambhavsankar says, they invoked a new doctrine that declares war on our environmental laws.

The United States has over 290 million acres of wetlands. Thanks to Sackett v. EPA, over a hundred million acres are at risk. Even if some states have more protective laws, many don't. And the downstream impacts of this staggering loss of protections are incalculable.

Young people are bringing change, from Montana to Hawaii. Feeling the urgency of the climate crisis, 14 Hawaiʻi youth advocates sued the Hawaiʻi DoT in 2022 to defend their right to a clean & healthy environment. And now, their trial date is set for 2024.

Puget Sound's orcas were decimated by humans. First, they were captured for places like Sea World. Then their food, salmon, became scarce & toxic. In the 90s, there were just 78 orcas left. So we went to court, & they were finally listed as endangered.
