Oliver O’Donovan: "Judging when political questions merit prophetic commentary requires a cool head and a theological sense of priorities. There are many times when the most pointed political criticism imaginable is to talk about something else."

@JaredSKennedy A great q. I def don't have it figured out! As an Anglican, confirmation is a natural occasion for a more formal catechesis than SS. Balancing whatever time w kids on trees (Scripture content) & forest (context) is the goal. I say more @YouthTheologian

@TerraAnimata His book, 'Grounded in the Gospel' tells the story! And @sopresley's 'Cultural Sanctification' is great on what it looked like.

Eugene Peterson's paraphrase of Rom 12:1 is a great description of discipleship: "So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering."

J.I. Packer: “The preaching of the gospel shouldn’t be thought of as something confined to set evangelistic occasions, as if at other times we should preach something else. If one preaches the Bible, one cannot help preaching the gospel & every sermon will be evangelistic.”

We'll develop healthier minds and souls if we approach texts with the question, "is there a sense in which this is correct?" before asking, "is there a sense in which this is incorrect?" Giving others the benefit of the doubt actually gives one's self the benefit of wisdom.
