Conservative oligarchs and politicians are so good at creating fake boogeymen to scare, distract, and rally their base while their real goals are power and wealth accumulation. In the early 2000s it was “terrorism”. We literally went to war to fight a meaningless word. Then it was immigrants and abortion. And now it’s DEI and trans. And while the country is distracted over literally meaningless word concepts that don’t actually affect 95% of folks, real people are falsely demonized and attacked. And now, important institutions like law enforcement, the balance of executive power, and democracy itself, are being crippled, just again so oligarchs can remove more barriers to wealth accumulation and power.
