@blondsteve It's hard to believe that is a serious question. To use the Savile example, it was literally long-term cover to conceal his true motives. But someone can also become bigoted, so it might not be "long-term". But "charity" itself isn't a one-way stream of benevolence.

@blondsteve Defend her all you like. But I don't agree when people cite "charity" work as proof of someone's virtue. It's not a good defence. Using Savile as an example is just an easy way to highlight that point. It was bad faith of you to claim that Moyet had been compared to him.

@unbanthisdood @darrengrimes_ It's easier to repeat propaganda than it is to think about the propaganda. Literally, in the photo above, is capitalism exploiting people. It's not "lifting them out of poverty". They are working to survive. Capitalism doesn't deserve credit for that.

@blondsteve You raised it as "proof". It was significant enough for you to cite it. But it's not actually proof. That's the point. Someone from a marginalised group isn't obligated to be grateful to someone who "campaigns" for them. That simply reinforces the marginalised dynamic.

@blondsteve @BellaGuerriglia Why did you bring up AM doing fundraising for LGBTQ if not to suggest that it proves she's not a bigot? It's a fallacious argument that ignores that abusive people often hide their bigotry with visible displays of "charity". It doesn't prove that they're not a bigot or abusive.
