@GlennLoury @pepperdine What I hear from most of my POC middle school students is that they think that Asian kid is actually smarter than them, they have the built in excuse that "doing the work" is in fact useless. They are fixated on "smart" not effort. My Asian students believe just the opposite.

I had all the advantages that my white classmates and neighbors had. My experience is that class advantages thoroughly outweigh racial advantages or disadvantages.

@wil_da_beast630 Being at the Unitarian Universalist Church National Convention a few years ago & finding their was a racially segregated Black area I could go into, but not my white husband. My parents marched in the streets to end segregation. I vowed never to go to a UU Convention again.

@eva_kurilova This a religion & we are dealing with theology. Disagreement is akin to Medieval heresy. Just teaching about Galileo today & how he showed church clergy the moons revolving around other planets, but they had to stick with geocentrism because it was Catholic dogma & Biblical.

@wil_da_beast630 I'm a democrat and this is exactly what I teach my 8th grade US History students. The abolitionist position was having slaves count as 0 people in terms of a states representation in Congress. As is, the 3/5's compromise gave the slave states too much power in representation.

@wil_da_beast630 Overkill, but what is police protocol in a situation like this? When facing, what the police believe is an armed suspect, who has already shot at them and is wearing a ski mask, they cant't stop and have a conversation about which one of them is going to fire at the suspect.

@wesyang I was a POC at a UC campus. The "safe space" I needed was a quiet well lit place to study. These people are ridiculous & make the struggles of POC seem trivial & stupid. These "anti-racists" increase racism by crying wolf at the safest space for POC to exist in America.

Boys are ok being gay, but no girl at school will identifies gay. Girls seem obsessed with identifying as any thing that’s “queer”

@kittypurrzog What does this even mean? Does it mean I will treat trans person as the sex they want to be? Yes. Do I have to say they are the biological sex they wish to be? No. They want it both ways, to be singled out as trans, and to be the sex they wish to be and not singled out as trans.

@ConceptualJames As a POC queer I'm glad I live in "colonized" country where I can live under laws that, in my state, outlaw discrimination and legally recognize husband. In many untouched un-colonized countries I would be in hiding, under threat of imprisonment, or worse. A love that dare not.

The key event of his life is his learning to read and write. His most important possession was a book, written by white people. Literacy=Freedom to Douglass.

Reparations is a wildly unpopular idea (68% no in PEW 2022), with only majority support from 1 racial group; African Americans, that does not have a serious path to being enacted.

The English test scores at my school, & the district in general, had Hispanic students with higher English scores than Black students. 70% of my Latino students come from Spanish speaking households. English is the home language of Black students. Failure!

@wil_da_beast630 I teach.., the suspension rates are based on actual behavior, not a “ belief “ about behavior. Suspending students is usually part of a long involved process with lots of paperwork and parental contact. Teachers & administrators don’t take the process of suspension lightly.
