Leon Draisaitl wants an eight-year deal with the Edmonton Oilers, top team insider reports
Huzzah! The longer, the better.
What do you think?

Tough moment for Tyson Barrie, who was a true Oiler, wanted to be here, and played his best hockey here.
A leader of the best power play in NHL history, and a guy who methodically improved his even strength play while in Edmonton.
Much respect to him and best of wishes.
If you can’t see how Evander Kane helps a team win, that’s cool.
Each to their own.
But I see it.
Kane helps create a ton of Grade A shots and he’s an intimidating physical force, huge in the playoffs.
He’s not a great defender. But what he does bring has value to winning.
Great quote from Evander Kane to media: "The world we live in, everybody's very sensitive and safe and soft, for lack of a better term, so I think when guys -- two veteran guys specifically -- show a little emotion, people are uncomfortable.
The thought of Evander Kane getting healthy all year long on LTIR, then going nuclear in playoffs is so delicious, so tempting and so outrageous, it's got to happen, right?
Trevor Moore should be suspended for that dangerous and dirty hit on Desharnais.
Clear attempt to injure by blindsiding Desharnais, going for his knee.
Many folks objected strenuously when the Oilers signed Evander Kane. They had every right to do so. I didn't share their objections but I understood them.
One year later, what do folks in Edmonton think of Evander Kane?
McDavid has made major contributions to 24 Grade A shots in three games against Florida.
Florida has had 25 Grade A shots in total.
McDavid playing poorly in the Stanley Cup Final? Total idiotic rubbish.
Bobrovsky had simply been otherworldly good.
75% of NHL analysts predict Edmonton Oilers will lose Stanley Cup Finals to Florida Panthers
How do you see it? I see EDM in 6.
With the Oil this close and this good, I don’t see McDavid or Draisaitl losing. I see them winning.

Hey, Steve Kozari. Trust your reffing partner. He was just a few feet away as Eichel grabbed Broberg, facing them. He saw no penalty, even as both grabbed, Eichel taking Broberg's stick. You couldn't call it, as their backs were to you.
But you did anyway.
My guess? Draisaitl and McDavid keen to win the Cup. I suspect they will come back on hometown discounts.
Draisaitl around $12.5 million per.
McDavid not much more.
This puts Oilers in much better spot to compete for Stanley Cup.
Make sense?
Any haters and/or skeptics still wondering if the Oilers deserve to be in the Stanley Cup Final?
Bobrovsky stole two wins. Excellent goaltending can do that. Florida made the most of its Grade A shots and is a fearsome squad. No doubt.
But this Oilers team is damn good.
How about this? Whatever happens let’s stick with our Oilers.
Let’s stick with players who are giving it their all.
Yes, moves will have to be made. And criticism is fair enough.
Of course!
But no need to shoot the wounded.
Am seeing criticism of NHL play-by-play announcer Harnarayan Singh.
I get it. I found him underwhelming at first.
But I have come to appreciate his style. Cool, efficient, keeps it tight. All kinds of ways to excel — Singh has found his groove.
If you are a Vegas Golden Knights fan you are NOT hallucinating and you are NOT paranoid.
The entire hockey world does indeed hate your team more than any other team and hopes your team loses as soon as possible in the playoffs.
There is not one Oiler that I think Edmonton has to move out in order to improve.
That said. Jack Campbell has to improve for the Oilers to improve.
I can see argument for limited change. Improvement from within.
This is talented group. No truly weak players.
Agree?
Euphoria peaking in Edmonton.
Oilers riding high.
All kinds of folks insisting that having won Game 5 that this is DEFINITELY going to Game 7.
Is Game 6 a trap game for the Oilers?
One band is a legend in Canada.
One band is the butt of many jokes.
The Tragically Hip get 900,000 listens per month on Spotify.
Nickelback gets 20.1 million.
Explanations for this, anyone?
Not sure I ever even liked an all-star event before.
But I loved the skills competition.
McDavid won it.
His biggest challenge was resisting prompts and hints from broadcasters to give shout outs to his hometown Toronto.
In media, we have a responsibility to tell stories, but too often they’re just not honest. The narrative around Zach Hyman’s first 50-goal season for example, erases the real reason it was possible. It wasn’t just hard work. Follow me on tiktok and instagram, for more.
Edmonton's best defensive game of the year. This is how you win big games in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Six Grade A shots for Oilers, four for Florida in tense, close, shut-down kind of game
Florida employs intriguing "Death by 1000 slashes" strategy to thwart McDavid.
Florida defenders hacking him at every opportunity, knowing the refs are unlikely to call it.
Edmonton Oilers ace Connor McDavid hacked once every 5 seconds he controlled puck in Game 2
All hail the NHL's state-of-the-art defensive play of the Florida Panthers.
Right?

ESPN stinks it up with Connor McDavid near bottom of list of Top 100 athletes of this century.
It's named
#25
-to-100 so far.
Guess where ESPN had McDavid?
Behind no less than 7 WNBA players! Who knew?

It brought a tear to my eye. How about you?
Skinner let in 1 goal on 14 Grade A shots.
Oettinger let in 2 goals on 3 Grade A shots.

A mob of loud Oilers hockey fans turned on Justin Schultz.
He was run out of town, then won two Stanley Cups.
Of course this same mob now has a target on Evan Bouchard.
Will they never learn?
I am OK if
@ryanwhitney6
gets back on Oilers bandwagon.
All kinds of fans, some super dedicated, some lifelong and hardcore, others off and on.
Fans can "fan" as they see fit.
Your take?
Your daily reminder that it's good to be humble about rating and ranking NHL players.
Numerous Oilers fans were out of-their-minds keen for Edmonton to trade for Jacob Chychrun in 2023. Instead Ken Holland decided on Mattias Ekholm.
Hmm. Interesting.
If it was easy, everyone would do it.
But the Oilers have plenty left. They've dominated this series, save for in Game 5.
Time for some Stanley Cup heroics. And Oil have just the players to pull it off.
Two freak plays in garbage time at end of game.
But if you are focusing on that, check your bias.
Ceci and Nurse had their best game in months, solid, physical defensive game.
Kept it simple. Kept it safe.
Time to play Broberg?
Seems to me Oilers need another d-man who can move the puck smartly.
And he can't leak more Grade A shots and goals against than any of the current crew, outside of the big game d-men Ekholm, Bouchard and Kulak.
If the Oilers go down tonight, I have no doubt they'll go down fighting.
Wish I was going tonight. I'd make an unholy noise of support.
Counting on you who are there to raise the roof, and not just when the team is up.
Especially when its down.
Raise the fcukin roof.
Oilers fans: we need to get tougher to beat teams like Florida.
Also Oilers fans: what? they haven’t traded Evander Kane yet? why won’t he waive his no movement clause?
Had to pick up a few items at grocery store. Have never seen a higher Oilers jerseys/sweaters/t-shirts/hats per person ratio.
One out of three wearing the colours.
Great day in Edmonton. Best in a long time.

1. You are allowed to trip Leon Draisaitl with impunity
2. You are allowed to hold or hook Connor McDavid with impunity.
3. If you're Drew Doughty, you can trip, hold and hook any player with impunity.
"There’s been a fire burning in the eyes of Connor McDavid all season, and now that same fire lights up Leon Draisaitl and RNH. It's spread to the others players, to the newcomers, and to the goalies.n Good luck to any opposing team trying to put it out."
The Oilers were never going to beat Dallas with 2 dmen who struggled to move the puck in Ceci & Desharnais. Putting in Broberg gave EDM a chance. And his development is the wildcard for this season. If he keeps stepping up, many other issues fade, including Nurse’s struggles.
Sam Gagner in for Edmonton Oilers? 'Never say never' says team insider
It's long shot

will play. But it's worth a shot.
I'd love to see Knoblauch make that bet.
You?

Huge game, as Oil showed they can come back against Stars.
Perry, McLeod and Broberg all looked good.
Never seen such fire in McD and Drai.
And Nurse played a big role in 2 goals after iffy start.
Oilers 14 Grade A shots, Stars 10.
Connor Brown is so hot right now.
And, hate to say this, but that's what Ryan McLeod almost never does, go to the net.
Which is what Adam Henrique almost always does.
Great relief effort by Jack Campbell.
But I'd still go with Stuart Skinner in Game 5.
Why? He's more consistent on first shot, including rebound control.
You?
Got to love Oilers dump-and-pound strategy.
Kings trying to kill off the game with n-zone trap.
Can't rush it in?
Then dump it in and utterly pound Kings d-men with heavy hits.
Jeff Jackson runs Oilers hockey.
Not sure why anyone anxious about Holland’s situation. Jackson will bring in able assistance.
Succession plan running full steam ahead.
Can't win them all.
Vegas got the bounces and the goaltending.
Oilers 16 Grade A shots, Vegas 7.
Winning streak was great but only thing that matters this year is the playoffs.
On to the next game, eh.
I second
@BruceMCurdy
on this, who said it was the worst call of the year.
Terrible judgement from official. That kind of hack or tap is a dime a dozen in the NHL and none of them get called. Total rancid rubbish from the grandstanding ref.
That said, this was LA's best game.
I have always believed the PLAYERS are the Show in the NHL.
The Unsportsmanlike call on 2019-20 MVP Leon Draisaitl right after Connor McDavid’s 2nd PPG was the sign of an Official who thinks he is the show!
Gave LA an opportunity to regain momentum.
Not a Playoff Penalty!
When you start to think about Darnell Nurse at forward, you can’t stop thinking about it,
Big, fast aggressive checker, power forward, can carry the puck and fire it.
It’s been done in the past. Why not once more?
