How many AI start ups aren’t going to make it to January first because of scaling costs and inability to raise? I can’t imagine announcing a $100,000,000 Raise then getting a bill from AWS for $97,000,000 and still having many millions more to raise 🤦♂️
@GaryMarcus
OpenAI board consisted of 2 academics, One a scientist at Rand, another from Georgetown natsec/emerging tech, 1 research sci, 2 execs. Clearly having academic oversight (board) of a deep tech company has failed, so what is the good case of academic or lawyer oversight forward?
@neilturkewitz
This is merely a reflection of their inability to build a proper architecture which includes attribution, and developers creating the problems should not be the ones speaking on behalf of all, let alone the ones solving the problems.
@GaryMarcus
@elonmusk
Gary, this is for Apple functionality and is 100% unrelated to Elon’s complaint that an OS Level OpenAI Client that directs data out of the device and to OpenAI shouldn’t even be remotely considered, the fact it will exist is problematic for security. Elon is 100% justified here.
If you stay passionate, energized, and keep dreaming, there’s no limit how far you can go with some hard work and dedication. This was me at Dad’s Desk eating Sbarro’s from the Mall under the Twin Towers. My love for tech has only grown, it’s who I am, it’s why I’m here.
Excited to be at Aberdeen Proving Ground with HPE, NVIDIA, Red Hat, Boston Dynamics, and Lockheed Martin providing

Demo’s for the US Army. I’m incredibly lucky for the cool stuff I get to do and the cool people I get to do it with! 🙏🏼
As someone who lost my best friend and angel investor in my arms suddenly and unexpectedly... I still wake up some days in a place of extreme emotional suffering, missing him, having flash backs of being stuck with him in a room trying to save his life, yelling at him telling him
Jensen Huang: "Greatness does not come from intelligence. Greatness comes from character, and character isn't isn't formed out of smart people: it's formed out of people who have suffered."
This is so not safe. This is sending proprietary data to a remote service. Not cool, and not a good use case for this technology. If the model isn’t local, and capable of running with ZERO INTERNET connection, then you absolutely shouldn’t be giving it access to all of your code.

How can one of the OG’s of internet technology fall for this? Rule

you never give information out to people who randomly call you,

you never provide information to anything they send you, rule

I wouldn't change a word about what he said. Suffering expands one's scale for pain, which is a super power when needing to operate in the haze of war devoid of emotional response. It reduces the degree of reluctance to believe in yourself and push yourself into uncomfortable

@GaryMarcus
was right, there has to be a reason why we are now getting GPT-4o instead of GPT-5, what's even crazier is not a single mention of it in the API documentation. 🤣
Just boarded flight from Amsterdam to Frankfurt. Ready to hit the ground and get right to work! Trustworthy AI is the talk of the next 24 hours! Let’s get it.
I'll say it again, the genie is out of the bottle... we are headed for really strange and dangerous times. Pausing isn't an option for anyone in order to stay safe and competitive on the battlefield. Only American adversaries want America to pause.
Google’s propaganda machine is in full effect. I’ve used Gemini Pro a lot in the last week for testing, I asked it to explain a complex manifold, that was an interesting answer. I can even make the 2 talk to each other, even GPT3.5 Turbo is better. And there is so much pro-Google
Gemini Pro is now ranking higher than GPT-4.
This has shocked many users. So I decided to compare both on:
- Critical thinking
- Math
- Programming
- Creative writing
Here are the results 🧵
What a lot of the AI influencers fail to understand is we no longer care what you think, we care what you do. If you do nothing but talk, talk is cheap. That’s a universally understood quota. Step it up.
Back in February, moments after I arrived in Nice 🇫🇷,

trust and safety advisor Lisa Thee texted me and offered me an extra room in her team’s AirBnB. When I got to Cannes, we went on the balcony and shared a glass of wine and caught up. The next day, she moderated
Wow, so perplexity just decides to go all in on Llama3 and breaks all their customer's integrations / registered models... how cute. This is not the way folks.
Very exciting that this is out now (from my time at OpenAI):
We trained an LLM critic to find bugs in code, and this helps humans find flaws on real-world production tasks that they would have missed otherwise.
A promising sign for scalable oversight!
Folks what Gary is saying here is the truth, the question is will companies continue to lay people off in America while increasing investments in AI? The answer is very likely, but they are not investing not by the results, the economic "benefit", or even the revenue. So yes.
Life in the Roman Empire recreated from images via AI. In the future, the way we interact with history will provide us a far deeper, far more immersive experience of what those times were like. What a time to be alive.
(Notice: I did not create this video, but its amazing)
I have some people following me, who in my opinion are some of the most inspirational people in the world. You might not see it as such but, each of you who I appreciate more than anything are helping me lead in a time which is tricky in a subject which ground breaking for all 💙
There’s a lot of tech bros saying they gave birth to technologies that are decades old… if you are going to claim you did something first at least know your history it’s the least we ask!
Footage of drones attacking critical infrastructure in the Ukraine war. This is no longer a fictional risk, this is now a global security crisis, countries are not prepared to deal with intelligent swarms that evade and attack. Countries need to prepare their cUAS framework now!
Dear friends. Please report this account. This is not me, and it is posting incredibly racist, hateful remarks.

all of the people in my community on here are being targeted by the same person. This is incredibly sad and disgusting.
Photogrammetry is to take many images of a scene, and stitch them together to create a 3D rendering. This technique has been especially useful for disaster response and management as its a lot cheaper and faster to send images than it is to send billions of 3D points. The
Starting the week with a song I used to listen to a lot when I was digging through some pretty heavy math. This song has added much value to my soul throughout the years. As I listen to it I can feel the emotional build up... recharged, grind time.
How to tell me you don’t have a clue without telling me you don’t have a clue?
👉 Tell me you want to regulate GPUs.
👉 Tell me you think SaaS vendors should be spying on customer data to see what they are doing with compute.

Spaces has crashed more this weekend than any other weekend I can remember as of recently. Hope to see it improve in reliability, I think spaces is the experience on X that is most important and impactful.
Throw back to my college days, when I wasn't doing homework all night, or sleeping, I was in a data center in Orlando all hours of the day and night doing systems maintenance on my colo'd rack. Life was a lot simpler then, but it made less sense than it does today.
This was 4 years in the making. Holding off on more advanced feature releases which will change the way we build, compute, and manage AI systems. If you support my mission to provide fair and equitable access for all, please consider signing up and reposting! 💙

Key take aways from OpenAI's Spring 2024 Announcements:
- No sign of model connectivity.
- They are not replacing google, anytime soon.
- Most eye raising portion of the demo was the desktop application, it requires your data get sent to their servers, and the example they used
@GaryMarcus
@elonmusk
Gary, a better question would be what evidence has been produced that OpenAI is even close to being able to serve models directly on a model device?
You are looking at a photo of an OS Level Integration saying you don't think it is even being contemplated when you are looking at
This is a super interesting move. Oracle owns all the old Sun Microsystems networking IP which was started when Sun was originally writing Linux for Cray, this is why Oracle cloud is super competitive for distributed training. I wonder what Elon is really cooking on here 👀
@xDaily
xAI contracted for 24k H100s from Oracle and Grok 2 trained on those. Grok 2 is going through finetuning and bug fixes. Probably ready to release next month.
xAI is building the 100k H100 system itself for fastest time to completion. Aiming to begin training later this month.
Recapping the World AI Cannes Festival from February 8th - 10th, 2024. It was quite the time, and a very special moment for our team at Drainpipe. We are also very excited to announce that we have added support Anthropic Support for Claude, and Perplexity's Sonar Online Models!
The difference between the AI influencer and AI builder is the influencer has time for interviews on TV, the influencer has time to go around the world to events, the influencer has time to write books, the influencer has time for white papers about opinions. Builders don’t. 🤷♂️🤦♂️

Thanks for sharing this Scoobz, pretty sad you have to be someone in order for them to release your domain from their extortion scheme. We really dropped the ball with domain registrars and their oversight.

At AI Jam, we connect, collaborate, & educate. We share laughs, shed tears, & dive into heated debates. Everyone is welcome, all nationals, cultures, ethnicities, and levels of expertise. It’s not a community; it’s a movement, and you’re invited. Let’s shape the future together
This is absolutely not a good idea unless you want to give all your proprietary data to Google because as of right now that is their policy. You give it, we keep it.
I showed Gemini 1.5 Pro the ENTIRE Self-Operating Computer codebase, and an example Gemini 1.5 API call.
From there, it was able to perfectly explain how the codebase works...
and then it implemented itself as a new supported model for the repo!
Not perfect, but very close.
