OpenAI board consisted of 2 academics, One a scientist at Rand, another from Georgetown natsec/emerging tech, 1 research sci, 2 execs. Clearly having academic oversight (board) of a deep tech company has failed, so what is the good case of academic or lawyer oversight forward?

Gary, this is for Apple functionality and is 100% unrelated to Elon’s complaint that an OS Level OpenAI Client that directs data out of the device and to OpenAI shouldn’t even be remotely considered, the fact it will exist is problematic for security. Elon is 100% justified here.

This is so not safe. This is sending proprietary data to a remote service. Not cool, and not a good use case for this technology. If the model isn’t local, and capable of running with ZERO INTERNET connection, then you absolutely shouldn’t be giving it access to all of your code.

Google’s propaganda machine is in full effect. I’ve used Gemini Pro a lot in the last week for testing, I asked it to explain a complex manifold, that was an interesting answer. I can even make the 2 talk to each other, even GPT3.5 Turbo is better. And there is so much pro-Google

This is absolutely not a good idea unless you want to give all your proprietary data to Google because as of right now that is their policy. You give it, we keep it.
I showed Gemini 1.5 Pro the ENTIRE Self-Operating Computer codebase, and an example Gemini 1.5 API call.
From there, it was able to perfectly explain how the codebase works...
and then it implemented itself as a new supported model for the repo!
Not perfect, but very close.
