The disc is the origin of the #Fibromyalgia syndrome(FMS or JFMS) until proven otherwise. If you have FMS or a patient with significant neck pain palpate or have the patient palpate the C5-C6 disc which is 2 fingerbreadths above the sternal notch on both sides. There will be more tenderness on the side of most pain. @WebMD Fibromyalgia in Children and Teenagers: Symptoms and Treatments from @WebMD;

@Janetbirdope @RheumNow I did a considerable amount of research using liquid crystal thermography on patients with spine pain/fibromyalgia syndrome. The best result was in patients with a painful thoracic disc. On the side of most pain there is a definite area of increased heat.

@Janetbirdope @RheumNow This might be useful in studying the L/R difference in the anterior skin temperatures in patients with neck pain-pre and post anterior cervical fusion. Also pre, during and post cervical discography. @dougbeaall @JayKarriMD @Rushrheum @UMMCnews

@OGdukeneurosurg Does the pain from L4-L5 disc radiate more to the iliac crest and L5-S1 into the buttock. This would be with sciatica or simple internal disc disruption syndrome.

@DrJN_SportsMed There is no way the average medical professional can know where to start with every pain complaint. Do they teach that 95% of spine pain is of disc origin? That the lower cervical discs are easily palpated anteriorly? That C5-C6 is under the skin line 2 fb above the sternal notch

@msk_health The most harms are from undermedicated pain patients. Suicides are common. Too little is said about the depression, anxiety and other problems.

@kennethafisher Access to opioids for pain. Constant thoughts of suicide is no fun. Eighty per cent of patients disabled with pain have depression.

@NASSspine Dr.David Selby led me to study painful discs and awake discography. This led me to discover that the disc is the origin of the neck and low back pain in the Fibromyalgia Syndrome.

@ros_tinkler How many are aware that there are surgical options? The disc or discs can easily be found. There is also much ongoing research with intradiscal stem cells.

This could be studied pre and post anterior cervical fusion at C5-C6. 100% pain relief is common and the disc is easy to palpate. In addition the related upper body Fibromyalgia Syndrome tender points disappear. @JAMANeuro @ummc @jaykarrimd @nass
