Oh @united, what a joy it is to be boarded onto the plane only to be told we’ll be sitting here for an hour (or more! Who can say?!) because you haven’t finished servicing the plane! Atrocious service as ever.

My sister and my wife are watching THE HOLIDAY in the next room while I finish M. Rickert’s LUCKY GIRL and I am suddenly struck by how marvelous the holiday season can be. Love you all, merry happy halfway out of the darkness.

I'm re-reading THE NIGHT CIRCUS (first re-read, so it has been about a decade) and two things jump out at me. One, it still absolutely rocks. Two, I did not realize how deeply this book wound its way into my psyche -- so many things I've written are directly grown from this book.
