I was rejected by a cashier in a restaurant when I tried to pay via my credit card, with the excuse that I have to meet the minimum transaction amount of RM50. I asked if she knows it is not legal to establish that. Subsequently she proceeded with my credit card payment in anger.
When I was doing electives in UK, the Consultant and I were once eating this digestive biscuit during tea time.
I told him this kind of biscuit are sold as luxury in Malaysia. Some even bought this as a gift.
Him in his British accent: “You fking kidding me?!”
“Why so late in attending me? The government paid you, means we paid you to work! Work faster. I am a government servant you know?!”, said a patient at ED.
At my 28th hour of continuous working in oncall shift.
Apa perkara paling offensive orang cakap pasal kerjaya kau?
Aku pernah makcik aku tanya, “kau sekali amik gambar berapa dapat? 300?”
Cilaka RM300 tu untuk aku bawak kamera keluar dari bag je belum shoot lagi.
Aku jawab, “cukup la bagi anak bini makan”.
A retailer is not allowed to stop customers from using credit card even if we're paying RM1. They can't establish a minimum/maximum transaction amount for honpring a credit card. Hopefully we can raise awareness on this.
Section 5.11.3 under Chapter 5 points out that "a Merchant must not require, or indicate that it requires, a minimum or maximum Transaction amount to accept a valid and properly presented Mastercard or Maestro Card."
A lot of people quit KKM and they are proud.
A lot of people stay in KKM for various reasons when they have a choice, I hope they feel proud about it too.
We walk different path. But keep our heads up, we shall ace in the path we have chosen.
Then: HO 2 years, UD44 permanent x 4 years, become UD48
Now: HO 2 years, UD43 x 2-3 years until they get absorbed. Once UD43 permanent, restart counting x another 4 years.
Is it right? If so, are permanent and contract HCWs considered equal?
It is a question.
Under Section 1.5.5.1, 'Visa Core Rules and Visa Product and Service Rules' states that "a Merchant must not establish a minimum or maximum Transaction amount as a condition for honouring a Visa Card or Visa Electron Card."
You are not just a doctor.
You are someone’s child.
You are someone’s parent.
You are someone’s brother or sister.
You are someone’s friends.
I really hope a doctor’s spouse and family will be taken into consideration when allocating doctor placement in the future.
Consultant: “There must be some sense of responsibility, MOs have to come early to do round”.
MOs already normalise starting work earlier at 730am.
Next, 7am? 645am?
This is a sign of manpower shortage, right?
@tsobsessionfair
It is cheap stuff in UK.
You wouldn’t call it a luxury, then so be it la haha.
RM10 for that British brand digestive is luxurious for most.
PPK shift: 7am-2pm or 2pm-9pm
HO shift: 7am-5pm or 7am-9pm
So, let PPK send bloods, get RTK box, trace scan report etc. Ask them to do faster if urgent, instead of you running to the labs when you should be attending to patient.
Report to sister or matron if there’s issue.
I will have to spend the whole day of Christmas in the hospital (8am-8am next day). Get paid RM220 for this active oncall.
RM220 / 24 hours = RM9.16/hour
😔
I asked my senior doctor for financial advice.
“Don’t worry, everyone will be fine financially. Because……we don’t have much time to spend money. Our saving will accumulate”.
That’s terrifying.
Thanks sis 😂 didn’t intend to create debate whether this M&S biscuit is luxurious. From my humble background, it is.
Yes I know because it is imported and rare here, just like tau sah piah is also expensive in UK. Cheers.
Man people in the replies are SO ANNOYING. He's clearly talking about a single brand, and a lot of people actually do find it expensive, and also a rare find. Keep in mind, there's only a few M&S stores in Malaysia
At first I had the same thought.
After I become a MO, I realise MOs have different level of responsibility and have to carry out tasks beyond HO level.
Many MOs will help with blood taking, cannulation and lab forms. But we have to finish our own task first.
I told my consultant our HO need to take average 40 cm bloods during night shifts, and 70 cm bloods on Sunday.
“Sorry do you mean 40-70 patients or 70 blood tubes?”
“40-70 patients.”
I can’t believe consultants in UK openly support junior doctor strike, to the extent that they are even willing cover their night shifts. 🇬🇧
Will our consultants do the same when we need them? 🇲🇾
Today the British Medical Association announced junior doctor strike dates in March
Consultants & colleagues around the UK will stand in to support them & ensure the best possible care for patients
I’ve offered to do the night shifts & will be needing these essential items
@saidaiiienu
I wasn't blaming the cashier. But after I asked that Q gently, she straight away proceeded despite in anger, so...
Anyway that's not the point here.
“Tag Call” is quite a silly idea. Basically a new “floating” MO has to tag around the oncall MOs to work without any allowance.
This week I worked for 20 hours extra, unpaid.
I have heard these from patients:
“You are kind”
“You are nice”
“Your skills are good”
“You doing a great service”
“Nowadays doctors look so well”
“You will go far in the future”
But today this is my first time hearing:
“Can I introduce my daughter to you? She is single.”
When I was doing bone marrow aspiration, my patient appeared so tensed.
Me: “Knp, sakit ke”
Him: “Erh erh”
Me: “Anything bang?”
Him: “Nak kentut, tak tahan”
Me: “Dipersilakan”
I held both my laughter and breath, completed the procedure with no immediate complication.
I mean, it’s okay if you don’t want to allow us to eat despite working together at the same place.
But how come you have the heart to write like that, kinda rude? Let alone the discrimination part.
For those future docs, just to clarify, housemanship is not that bad.
Intra-op needs DIVC regime.
Calling PPK every 5 minutes for 1 hour in OT. Told will come, but never appear.
After 2 hours, pushed back to ICU post-op. Still hasn’t came.
Called again. The PPK finally arrived. No guilt. No apology.
HO was blamed for not urging them.
Hi I felt pissed, but I didn’t say anything more considering he is old and the waiting.
In real life, we should always keep our anger under control. Better outcome that way. We are professionals, after all.
The debate in the replies 💀
Y'all really have forgotten not too long ago about Charles & Keith being a luxury brand debate?
If some people find some things as luxurious, then just let it be la. Not everyone is being paid 5-figure salary like you.
I am expecting my first baby in mid Feb.
Asked the leader if I could fulfil all my oncall duty in early Feb.
The leader: “I won’t guarantee, follow rule, no one would be prioritised”.
Crying deep down. Since when we have to be so cold to each other in workplace.

Hi there, it happened all these while here. A lot experienced the same thing even myself 9 years ago.
I hope you will get an offer to study matriculation. Keep it up. If you need advice you could DM me.
One thing I learnt during housemanship, this kind of stamp chop is much better.
It is tiny, durable and easily refillable.
Most importantly, it can be attached to our name tag lanyards so it won't go missing (might be a big deal because people could misuse it)

Why is there a certain group of people in Malaysia from non-medical backgrounds looking so eager to promote Ivermectin by spreading misinformation?
And now they are backed by PH MPs.
Is there any possible conflict of interest?

2/ “You should sacrifice for your duty.”
Yes, we should. And we are already doing.
-Our oncall shift is 30-36 hours
-We cover here and there when there’s no enough manpower, i.e. ward, peri, clinic, ED referrals, daycare etc.
The new batch of junior doctors in Malaysia will have a pay cut of RM750 following the abolishment of "critical allowance". A step backward taken by the government.

What a smart way of promoting local tourism through the social media. Guys go follow the Discover Seremban Instagram page too, support sikit!😊
1 month ago, I was scared of inserting IJC dialysis catheter without supervision or companion.
Now, I overcome the fear and could do it independently.
It is right when people say practices make perfect.
In paediatric standby, always prepare for the worst though we are hoping for the best. My first encounter of fresh stillbirth in paeds standby for emergency caesarean section for uterine rupture. Baby born flat, cyanosed, no heart rate, no breathing effort.
Taman Negara Penang still remains closed for the public. When you can open shopping malls and pasar, but you can’t open National Park.
Called the National Park officer, “sabarlah, tengok la dalam 2 minggu, kan COVID”.
It is actually PPK’s job to send the blood specimens during their 7am-2pm or 2-9pm shifts.
We shouldn’t normalise housemen running around to send blood specimens or take covid kit box, right?
Ho tips:
Never ever underestimate ur role, esp when u r junior/tagger, sikit2 trace blood ix, skit2 hntar darah/amek darah, tlong amek brg tu, prepare brg ni, tlong inform,p cari mo/sp amek sign
Its a part of the process. If u do not run to take gxm to help dying pt? who will?
SAY NO TO ULAR PARKING.
I parked at a public parking under Majlis.
A fierce parking guy stopped me upon my exit.
“ADA LETAK TAYAR situ maksud parking aku punya. Bayar lah!”
Me: “Sure, I am willing to pay. But let’s report police first”.
The guy cabut.
@darien_liew
I understand the frustration of having to go back late. Nobody likes that.
But I don't think the MOs purposely wanted to discharge late? They usually have their reasons. Not really fair to call them heavily inconsiderate.
Just my humble opinion.
@borneoaman
Are you sure? We are talking about rate for a professional, not entry level worker.
One only has 24 hours in a day. No one can last working 24H x 30 days lol
@sswkelvin
@ncileo
@HKontrak
Yup. But the point here is not just about getting the food right?
If we were asked to write “Tidak disediakan untuk PPK or SN!!!**”, would we?
We won’t.
It is the doctor’s responsibility to explain on the worst case scenario.
The communication part still has room for improvement.
In reality, doctors also hope they have more time to talk to patients. But sadly there are just too many patients for insufficient staff to cope.
Some doctors tak ada rasa empati. I said some ya. Jangan pakat terasa
After my mum operate buang lump dengan kelenjar hari tu, doctor cakap if cancer datang semula breast kena potong
Like kau tak cakap apa alternative, tak cakap pasal rawatan susulan, terus cakap buang breast
Sorry, some correction. Need to add 1 more year
Now:
UD41 HO x 2 years
UD41 MO x 1 year
UD43 MO x 3-4 years until they get absorbed
Once UD43 permanent, restart counting UD43 x another 4 years
My second publication is just up.
This case demonstrated that COVID-19 patients may develop severe cardiac complications such as myopericarditis even in a young patient with no previous known cardiac-related medical illness.
Full access:
My first experience was with my university mates at Pulau Mamutik, Sabah 2 years ago.
Very hot, even at night. Our camp fire died off. Plenty of monitor lizards and mosquitoes.
Awesome? Absolutely.
People talk like all healthcare staffs are provided with foods in the healthcare workplace.
Most will be happy eating inside hospital if so.
Healthcare staffs don’t have lunch hours too, basically good luck finding time and a place to eat.
Nk tahu betapa teruknya sistem KKM malaysia ?
ank admit wad , penjaga dn pesakit x dibnarkan keluar bilik , amik mknan yg ditapau keluarga sbb takut jangkitan covid dri luar . Tpi staffnurse , MA , Doc dibenarkan beli dari luar dn keluar masuk mcm covid tu tkkn terkena kt dorg.
What a day:
- 2 CVL insertion
- 1 bone marrow aspiration and trephine biopsy
- 1 intrathecal chemotherapy
- 2 admissions
- See 5 patients at clinic
- On top of AM/PM review
Apologies if I didn’t attend you fast enough. I am just a MO.

I really think it is not professional for healthcare workers, including nurses and doctors, to shout at their colleagues in a hospital setting with patients around, unless it is for emergency.
Contract doctors are potentially vulnerable with “if you don’t behave, you will not be given permanent posts”.
We should learn from NHS.
All contract basis or all permanent basis. With transparent criteria.
After more than a year I graduated from NUMed, I still received a message from Dr Kartini asking about how we NUMedians are doing in Penang.
She is really a great teacher. Hope to catch up again in future.
Looks like a bad day to me but I still remain positive. Today I identified area of improvement; a friend complemented my mosler outfit which I always take great care of; chicken rice uncle gave me more chicken than usual in my dabao; my plant grows taller for another 1cm......
Not every cardio case needs referral to IJN. If the medical team refuses to do so, perhaps it is not indicated. We should listen to doctors’ explanation.
My aunt’s job was affected during this pandemic. I know she is a great home cook but she is very humble and lack of self-confidence. So I created an Instagram page for her cooking diary to motivate her🦾
