Andre DeGrasse's 19.62s (PB/NR) is the 4th fastest time ever run in an Olympic Final; only Usain Bolt (19.30s and 19.32s) and Michael Johnson (19.32s) have gone faster in a final at the Olympics. DeGrasse is also the 3rd Canadian to win Olympic Gold over 200m.

Confirmation that Romaine Beckford is through to the Men's High Jump Final. It's the first time that a Jamaican is making the final in the event at the Olympics. Note when Germaine Mason won Silver in 2008 he was representing Great Britain.

I really don't believe athletes need to apologize for a bad day in competition. It happens, you owe us nothing. The fact that you decide to suit up for your country alone is a sacrifice most of us should be thanking you for. Bad days are par for the course; better days are ahead.

Historic! Shadae Lawrence is the first Jamaican Woman to qualify for the Final of the Discus Competition at the Olympic Games. The National Record Holder at 67.05m, who is competing at her second Olympics, qualified 11th best overall with a best of 62.27m.

Big up Julien Alfred, who made both the 100m & 200m final, narrowly missing a medal in the 200m. She represented her country St. Lucia & Alma mater St. Catherine High very well. There is much more in store for her. By the way, she did this on the back of a long collegiate season.

As good as it is to qualify for the Olympics, you can't use the designation of OLY until you actually compete at the Olympics. Qualifying is one thing, competing is another. Similarly, once you have competed at an Olympics, the designation of Olympian remains with you for life.

Rushell Clayton having come back from injury which hampered her progress after her 2019 breakout year has done well. Many didn't even have her making the final, but she qualified and ran well. I'm happy she finished injury free.

Brandon Pottinger becomes the first Jamaican High Jumper to strike Gold in a global Championships. Germaine Mason came close in 2000 with a Silver, Kristoff Bryan also missed a medal in 2014, and Pottinger has come to the Party and sits atop the World U20 podium.

If you are seeing the top 3 athletes with medals around their necks after an event, don't be alarmed. It's called Instant Medals and is being done to facilitate a lap of Honour as well as for photo ops. There will always be an official Medal Ceremony for every event.

This is Jamaica's most successful World U20 Championships outing. The 6 Gold Medals won so far is the most ever, the previous best was 4 from Tampere, Finland in 2018, which our previous best total medal haul was from as well, i.e. 12 Medals.

Nickisha Pryce's 48.89s (NR, WL, MR, CL, CR, PB) moves her joined 13th on the all-time list. She is the 3rd fastest Caribbean quarter-miler all-time behind Shaunae (48.36) & Paulino (48.76). She is the only Jamaican to go sub-49s over 400m.

On the back of this successful U20 Championships, I would love if the JAAA pushes to improve our athletes in a few more disciplines over the next 2 years so that we have at least 1 athlete in those events. For example, the Javelin, Hammer and to a lesser extent the Pole Vault.

The 2nd fastest time all time for a Women's U20 4x1 team, 42.59s. Only the 42.58s done in Kingston is faster. It will be the new World U20 Record having now bettered the 42.94s done last year in Kenya. It's the same team that ran in Nairobi as well.
