@leeerob Just did this yesterday on my Mac. It’s very easy to get started. Used the template from @ethanniser ❤️ Only thing I didn’t like is that it’s yet another language and even more that it feels like a config file that later added scripting… But Cursor does the work for you.

@ospfranco My point was that it's probably only required if you need access to lifecycle events and will hopefully be removed in the future. Just wanted to drive home the point that their system is quite modular and you can pick and choose the good parts ☺️ sry for annoying you 🧡

@ospfranco True, but it's a current limitation of the react-native module system. The main reason would be that they want to forward app delegate events to their own modules. I read a tweet that they would like to change this in the future...

@ospfranco Well we still use the "pure" metro packager from what I can tell. No need to opt in to the whole expo eco system...

@ospfranco Okay, with your definition maybe. If you use expo docs definition it would be a "React Native app that uses Expo tools": BUT: You can use expo modules in non RN apps 🙃

@mrousavy @tomekzaw_ @JNYBGR It‘s not maintained very well though and does not get all new stuff very fast, as the fork is lacking behind. Do you know if it supports fabric? Not often a problem, but keep it mind and use sparingly. Would love to see a more maintainable approach where all my Texts can do this.

@ospfranco @terrysahaidak @LinguaBrowse @kzzzf There is a maintenance cost though, but until now it’s little effort. Only tricky part was to get code signing for automatic AppStore upload running, as the runner did not have access to the keychain. Xcode expects the certs to be in the keychain though, which was quite tricky…

@ospfranco @terrysahaidak @LinguaBrowse @kzzzf It‘s what we are doing as well. Had our build times down to 2,5mins (gitlab shellrunner) before c++ build times where introduced in 0.72 iirc. Now it’s at 15min 😭 Could add compiler caching but it’s not recommended in CI…
