The Jamaican fruit bat (Artibeus jamaicensis) helps fruit trees by distributing the seeds far and wide, enabling more trees to grow. This bat can carry fruits 1.5 times its weight; in its mouth! That would be like a 150lb person h holding a 225lb bag with their teeth!

Bat Count Cayman is still going strong. The Strang Family made some new furry flying friends in South Sound. Every night this colony of velvety free-tailed bats can consume thousands of flying insects.
