@godbole_shilpa French is a funny language. As a kid, I couldn't wrap my head around the correct pronunciation of "rendezvous" ! Fast forward to adulthood: I am still lost as to why an alpine commune spelt as "Les Houches" be pronounced as "Le oosh".

I shared this with my running friends. Surprised to know that two of my close friends have been robbed recently of their mobile phones by bike borne goons on Raja Mantri Road (DP road) - the same one where this happened. Both around 7:30 am ! @CPPuneCity @PuneCityPolice
This happened to a runner today morning on DP road near Mhatre Bridge. The runner was not alone, 2 people from his running group were ahead of him, who turned back & came after they heard him screaming.. he wasn’t running in the middle of the road, not wearing gold chain..or carrying a phone. This happened not at 2am or 3am. Now that all the angles of blaming him (except for the fact that he was runing) have been negated. Let’s look at the increase in brazen lawlessness in Pune. On well lit, wide road, close to office of a political party. Today there was also another running event happening at that very location means the road wasn’t very deserted. There were some runners & walkers out & about. Lawlessness is a serious problem in Pune city & it needs to be addressed.

Guillain and Barré were medical students together at the Saltpetriere in Paris at the turn of the century and specialised in neurology. During the First World War, they were both serving as doctors in the French Army. They noted the cases of two soldiers who had become partially paralyzed. One, in particular, had fallen over when he had put his pack on and had been unable to get up. Both the soldiers quickly recovered, possibly assisted by treatment with pork chops and claret. (From - GBS Support Group of the UK - History.)
These two gentlemen are currently famous in Pune. They are Guillain and Barre of the Guillain-Barre Syndrome.

I belong to those batches from MH when pre PG MOship in rural PHCs was compulsory for admission to PG course. I remember one night when the MLA did a dharna in the PHC. His demand: we have to start an oxytocin drip for his karyakartas wife who was progressing well in labour ! 🙄
This is pure harassment to gain optics under camera. What is dr supposed to do ? Hold hands of patient and sit while opd of 250 people is waiting ? SDM sahab ka balance nikaloge to crores ki dhandhli milegi but no doubt these guys are immune. This is why people dont want to work in villages @BhajanlalBjp @AmitShah @JPNadda @Ra_THORe

@nitingodbole @PuneCityTraffic @Sachinshaha Noticing increased traffic police presence here since few days. Unfortunately, they can't be around all the time. This, along with wrong side drivers from Raja Mantri Road to here, is sufficient to complete the entire Pune traffic department's fine collection target, if any !

@aparanjape @docbhooshan @maheshk1199 Right now, I am deliberating on what to reply to a patient who had an appointment at 6 pm today, but missed it and is continuously calling my reception, asking me to wait till 10 pm so that he can see me !

@ManishManke Yes, I recognise this place. बजरंग बली की जय ! :) Have witnessed the transformation of the small temple into a spot that draws a big crowd. On another note, gratitude to the good souls who fill up the water tanks there. Doubles up as my refilling / aid station at the U turn.

@narayananh GBS was always around. However the cases were sporadic. It's the sudden high spurt in a particular cluster, with rapid neurological deterioration, that has caught attention currently.

There is no need to panic as far as GBS is concerned. It is not a communicable disease. It's immune mediated. Most cases recover. Few may see severe neurological deterioration. One needs to be aware of the symptoms and seek medical opinion early. GBS is seen throughout the year as an uncommon disorder, but a sudden high spike this month in a Pune cluster has caught attention.
