Figging is use of peeled root ginger inserted up the anus prior to discipline, usually Birch. Originally used on horses to make them raise their tails on parade, it occurred to some bright spark it would make a lad about to be whipped raise his buttocks.

I don’t think it was a film. Tigger did some filming around that time in Vauxhall. I think this was from a series of photos around some filmed content but that pic is not a still from a film, to the best of my recollection.

No danger I’m aware of in the use of the ginger, I think there is some absorption of the ginger as a suppository which can cause localised tingling and warmth as well as light euphoria. Certainly I’m not aware of any damage caused though I can’t speak for allergies.
