An innovative idea will meet resistance from the early majority, late majority, and laggards because they benefit from status quo and have an aversion to risk and change. The innovators have high risk tolerance, but need early adopters' opinion leadership to reach early majority.

There are so many approaches to security that unknowingly start from the basis of not being able to build custom software systems. When you have fluidity with building software, and hopefully AI will help with this, many more and stronger approaches become available to you.

Mental model of the day: Chesterton’s Fence In short, "do not remove a fence until you know why it was put up in the first place." It is less cognitive work to tear something down that it is to understand what is wrong, how to fix it, and build a fix.

AI governance discussions often have an incorrect definition of cyber defense and too narrowly define the term as incident response and patching. If we want to avoid misguided AI policies then we need to broaden their understanding.

Many security approaches are based on the underlying assumptions that we know all of the bad to look for, are able to spot it, able to respond, and in time to prevent a Bad Thing (TM) from happening. Wherever you can, build systems that start from only allowing the known good.

@ravirockks I think in a world like that, "software vendor" would take on a radically different meaning. What if GenAI meant the big vendors became software forges for whatever apps you wanted, for which you were the only user? Data becomes interoperable rather than by using same software.
