The influence of Bollywood on Indian society and how bollywood brainwashes Indian youth- In the 90s, Indian movies were often based on love stories or depicted the reign of a wealthy family, with a character named Rahul typically falling in love with a girl. These films portrayed that obtaining love was the ultimate aim in a young man’s life, whether it was ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ or ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, among many others. The effect of these movies was such that when a 10-12-year-old child watched them, they would believe them to be reality and think that they should do the same when they grow up. A middle-class or poor-class boy might take these stories as truth and get distracted from their career and goals, not realizing that in movies, the hero’s father has a lot of money which enables him to do all these things. Even today, we hear news about young boys committing murders after watching films like ‘Khalnayak’. Nowadays, Bollywood movies or every other web series introduce gay and lesbian scenes; when children watch these, they might start to consider them normal, and it won’t be long before there is a significant increase in the gay and lesbian population in India.
