@KenDilanianNBC
There it is again: only reporters can ask “hard questions.”
Arrogant and wrong. And I was a political reporter.
Ask yourself: after 1 hr of “hard questions” Thurs, do we know ONE THING about DJ Trump that we didn’t already know? No. We do not.
In fact, agriculture is 18th in Missouri by GDP, behind real estate, manufacturing, health care, retail, finance, construction, even arts and entertainment.
Guess you have to live in Missouri to know that.
This is one of the reasons some judges dislike courtroom cameras. Live coverage reveals the truth: judges are not omniscient arbiters of truth or the law.
A travesty. Jurors are supposed to ignore the media and it’s all this dude is talking about. Talking about how unfair the media has been TO HIM. Unreal.

Also, millions of Americans who don't live near the coasts, or a river, have subsidized the National Flood Insurance Program.
In 2017, Congress canceled $16 billion in NFIP debt.
Tomorrow, total deaths from COVID in Missouri, over 3 months, will exceed Missouri traffic fatalities for all of 2019.
The answer is clear: end speed limits, stop signs, traffic signals, licensing, DUI laws. Because freedom.
Some traditions, like the hand shake line after a Butler County little league game are stronger than city slicker lecturing. I look forward to the liberal doomsday predictions that never materialize of a 0.04% spike in whooping cough cases in Fisk.
Mike Huckabee after the slaughter in Las Vegas: "I was outraged and stunned that there were politicians who, even before the bodies were cleared from the streets of Las Vegas, were already politicizing this."
Sick at my stomach that Mollie Tibbets, the Iowa student found dead. Suspect is illegal immigrant. If found guilty, he will be reminder why sanctuary cities & open borders are as stupid as the politicians who promote them.

“An attack on a newspaper office through an illegal search is not just an infringement on the rights of journalists but an assault on the very foundation of democracy,” the Kansas Press Association head said, report

Can I say this?
New negotiations for Chiefs/Royals will be difficult.
But they will be far less difficult, and far less expensive, than moving either team.
MLB relocation fee is $400m. Rams paid $790m to leave St. Louis.
Now 610 and
@SportsRadio810
will have an opportunity to talk people off the ledge and use their platforms to help keeps the teams in Kansas City, as opposed to, feeding people full of fear.
There is a path forward to keep both teams in town. Relax.
During his inaugural address in 2019, Zelensky told lawmakers: “I do not want my picture in your offices: the President is not an icon, an idol or a portrait. Hang your kids' photos instead, and look at them each time you are making a decision.”
Clay County EDC Transportation summit. Listening to Sam Graves speak to infrastructure and the federal money coming to the state of Missouri. Panel includes MO DOT Director Pat McKenna and others. Held at William Jewel College.
If
@realDonaldTrump
loses in 2020, this will be why.
Every, single day, he subjects the country he was elected to lead to a stream of ugly, divisive bombast. It’s exhausting. It’s destructive. It’s unworthy of a POTUS.
And it would only get worse.
Four more years? Of THIS?
Legally protected peaceful protest is consistent with some of the best traditions of American dissent. But sadly, today’s events were far from peaceful. The demonstrations were pure obstructionism that stifled debate, placing a roadblock in front of democracy.

I have drafted motions to subpoena Adam Schiff, the “whistleblower,” Hunter Biden, and Joe Biden to testify. If the Senate calls witnesses, I will ask for votes on all these next week
President Biden should withdraw troops in Afghanistan by May 1, as the Trump administration planned, but better late than never. It’s time for this forever war to end
Hawley claims Missourians don’t think the election was fair. He is lying.
He also doesn’t understand the Constitution. What happened in PA is not legally relevant to MO. We elect presidents by state, not by person.
You’d expect more from a Stanford-Yale grad.
Sen. Josh Hawley fires back after Sen. Pat Toomey and others raise concerns about his plans — along with at least 11 other GOP senators — to object to the electoral vote count when a joint session of Congress meets Jan. 6, per email sent to Senate GOP Conference tonight

Today I have the opportunity and the obligation to speak for my constituents and to object during the electoral college certification. I look forward to the debate
Imagine voting on taxpayer support for a streetcar system without knowing the cost, the route, the system's capacity or its frequency of operation.
The teams must be MUCH more transparent in the next 75 days.
Kansas City is a major league City and if there is a path to keep both teams in KC for decades to come, build new world class venues for both, and do it all with no tax increase that may be the deal of the century. Excited to see progress on plan in coming weeks. Go KC!
Moran 1998: "Having to make a choice, I choose to be on the side that says no person is above the law, that this is a nation of laws not men, that telling the truth matters, and that we should expect our public officials to conduct themselves...with the highest ethical standards"
Parson also says he doesn't think the state should tell local governments what to do "on a daily basis." The state tells locals what to do all the time -- plastic bags, guns, minimum wage...

Good lord.
Let’s be clear: if results in PA, GA et al are set aside, then Missouri’s must be too. There’s as much evidence of irregularities in MO as in those states.
What a waste of taxpayer money.
Election integrity is central to our republic. And I will defend it at every turn.
As I have in other cases - I will help lead the effort in support of Texas’

Missouri is in the fight.

As important: the NY Post laptop story wasn’t “suppressed.” Anyone with internet access could find and read the story.
Anyone without internet access couldn’t be influenced by Twitter.
No one can be required to REPUBLISH or AMPLIFY someone else’s journalism.
Hey KC: Sunday’s Star is outstanding: Jaco, Greitens, downtown housing, tax cuts, Porter on Starbucks, nice Mellinger piece. Pick up a copy!

So.. as we reported.. Sen. Hawley owns shares in a mutual fund called Fidelity Contrafund, according to his last PFD. 10% of the fund's assets are invested in Facebook/Meta, per latest SEC filing, more than any other single stock.
FB owns Instagram.
“It is unconscionable that any company would aid and abet this epidemic of death and despair.”
Senator Hawley slams Instagram for its disregard for the well-being of its young users and demands answers.
NEW: Pres. Trump speaks to possibility of declaring a national emergency ahead of meetings with senior White House staff at Camp David: "I may declare a national emergency dependent on what's going to happen on the next few days."
Same-day registration, universal no-excuse early voting, vote on a Saturday, uniform voting apparatus, universal closing times and counting windows.. let's go.
If last 24 hrs have made anything clear, it’s that we need new election integrity laws NOW. Ban ballot harvesting, guarantee poll watcher access, make ballot counting transparent. I will introduce
"We mourn an elected official who understood, through his own pain, responsibility ..We mourn the loss of that understanding in our politics. It’s said Dole could not have won an election in Kansas in the 21st century. It’s probably true. That’s our fault, not his."
“Would STAR bonds cover the bill?”
No.
A🧵.
A $3 billion stadium bond would cost $185 m. a year for 30 yrs (or more).
It would come from the Kansas sales tax of 6.5%.
To generate $185 m, the district would need $2.8 billion in annual sales.
Wrote late last night about the context of those renderings for a Chiefs stadium in Wyandotte County — more details here on how they came together, who's involved in that proposal and, notably, who isn't:

This morning, on a vote of 84-35, the Kansas House passed HCR5015 calling on Congress to reject H.R. 1 and S. 1.
It is imperative that states be allowed to conduct elections according to their own election laws.

Just 8 days until the launch of the book the Left tried to cancel and suppress! It’s all about
#BigTech
’s attempt to run our government and our lives - with big help from the Left. Order now!
The last time Kris Kobach appeared in court, the judge fined him for misconduct, slammed him for incompetence, and ordered him to receive six hours of remedial training in the rules of evidence.
FYI: RepHartzler in 2014, re: Obama: "I am disappointed that President Obama has chosen to bypass Congress in his rush to implement immigration reform."
Hartzler in 2019, re: Trump: "His emergency powers give him the authority to redirect funding to protect the American people"
Pompeo on China: "They're incapable of being transparent, of accepting criticism, of allowing reporters to ask them questions that they find uncomfortable."
This seems clear: it isn’t feasible, fiscally or morally, to ask Jackson Countians alone to bear the full burden of the stadium needs of two pro sports franchises.
The teams and local pols should make that clear, and offer a framework for a shared solution. There is still time.
How many times must we point out that kids must get vaccinated against diseases, including polio, mumps, measles, diptheria? No one has yet explained why those mandates are ok but COVID vaccines are tyranny.
The Biden administration’s vaccine mandate will have a harmful impact on U.S. employers, adding to the labor force and supply chain challenges that are already roiling the economy.
Of course, KCPD could spend money on a hot air balloon and taxpayers could do nothing to stop it.
And Pete would be happy, because he believes the police can’t be wrong. Ever.
#KansasCity
could vote to take money from
@kcpolice
and give it to a hot air balloon competition and some in local KC media would insist that it’s a “reallocation” of funds.
#KCMO
Real question: The stadium will be owned by Jackson County.
Shouldn’t Jackson County pick the architect/designer/developer?
The City Council picked Edgemoor for KCI, not airlines/tenants.
@MannyAbarcaIV
COVID has taught us again and again that The Left trusts government while Conservatives trust real people.
The Left believes the command and control elite ruling class in DC is all-knowing. Conservatives believe people can assess the facts and make their own decisions.

@KUPoliticalSci
professor emeritus
@burdett_loomis
has passed away. Very sad to hear the news. Burdett was a fixture of Kansas politics-- always ready with a pithy quote and with insights the streteched back to Dole-Roy race.
Debt service on $1 billion bond over 30 yrs would likely be $70 m annually.
That’s $7 m in tax revenue per Chiefs game (10 game season.)
With a 10% sales tax, and 70,000 fans, that’s $1000 in spending per attendee per game.
Parking won’t be cheap.
Finished round one Pfizer vaccine. Easy and efficient.
I was struck by how many people here - hundreds - likely stood in line for anti-polio sugar cubes 60 years ago.
Likely most of us I’d guess.
Just called the bank. Told them when I said I would pay my mortgage, obviously I never meant I’d write a check.
I’m paying them “indirectly.” Waiting to hear back.
At the end, Sen.
@HawleyMO
quotes from the Gettysburg Address, suggesting Lincoln meant to honor all soldiers killed there.
But the speech was at the dedication of a cemetery meant for Union soldiers. "These men" refers to Union soldiers, not all combatants.
Going back through the speech now, but Hawley in his speech defending Confederate base names accuses the media of wishing there was still a Civil War...
I’m told NeverTrumper and ex-Republican George Will attacking me again today for talking about working people. Oh George. Don’t you have a country club to go to?
In 1956, compliance by teens with the new polio vaccine was .6%. On Oct 28, Elvis Presley was set to appear on the Ed Sullivan show. He was asked to get the shot before his performance and did so, live.
Compliance went up to 80%.
Influencers matter. Including political ones.⬇️
For example: Jay Ashcroft has authorized use of Dominion voting systems in Missouri. He’s obviously part of the Venezuelan conspiracy.
Remember: If Missouri can tell PA how to run its elections, then PA can do the same to MO.
Maybe it should.
Think of this: Richard Nixon resigned because he ordered the CIA to tell the FBI to stay away from Watergate.
That was a criminal obstruction of justice.
It was also an official act, and as of today, legal.
I will sadly admit that I don’t listen to every episode. But I will listen carefully to this one. I find this Supreme Court opinion on presidential immunity dispiriting. I came of age in Watergate, and I have believed for 50 years that presidents were not above the law. 1/
Every parent and student should get a handwritten apology from every school bureaucrat who forced kids to wear masks all day long even though the science and data didn’t support the mandates.
