I have a student who couldn't even tell us his name the first day of school. When he needed to go to the restroom he would just wet on himself and finally started saying "pee pee." This week he gave me a complete sentence "I need to go pee pee."
This can't be measured on a test.

Update: Offered the position within 30 minutes before I ever left the interview. It feels good to be wanted and to know that I'll get to do my job at this campus. I'm 99% sure I'll take it but it also feels good that I have a week to decide.

We're still in the middle of the pandemic but I'm a teacher in Texas. That means that I'm at school every day around kids that won't wear a mask or won't wear it correctly. They sneeze and cough and vomit. And I'm terrified. I'm 3x vaccinated. My hubby and kids are vaccinated...
