3/ Democrats are planning a virtual roll call to nominate the candidate and hope to conclude that process before August 7, which would greatly truncate any opportunity for deliberation to choose a new candidate.

8/ If Harris is the nominee, it is worth noting that as a California inhabitant she would likely not choose another Californian as her vice presidential candidate. The Twelfth Amendment requires presidential electors to vote for at least one candidate who is not from their state.
