Welp. I did it. I made a trainable Neural Network in @tldraw with holograph - Select a pattern of points to generate training data - Start training and it will learn to predict a point's color - Move a point around to test it out I can finally rest

@emollick The memory mechanism is interesting- stores a stream of time stamped ‘observations’, and has *the model* actually score each memories importance

A different kind of visual code. Here's a Propagator Network builder in @tldraw , enabling bi-directional computation- in this case for converting temperatures. Propagators (squares) listen to changing inputs, run code, and update connected outputs.

Annnd we have a timer! With a reset switch. The propagator model was described as a new "substrate for computation" by Alexey Radul in his 2009 paper. It's having a bit of a resurgence now that people are seeing what it can do... (everything). Made in @tldraw + custom code

Got a spiking neural network to oscillate in Spiking neurons accumulate current from dendrites and slowly leak it out. Once it hits a threshold, it fires, sending current along. PS: I added an Explore button so you can try this and other creations :)

How about a basic cellular automata called a 'binary network'? Every second, cells become 'alive' when they have at least 2 live neighbors, or else they die. Notice you can now control @tldraw shapes props by using parenthesis, like this: --"color"--> Go friggen wild

The entire guts of a Hopfield network in holograph/ @tldraw . Write memories, scramble brain, recall. So human. Made possible by a new feature: Make an arrow dashed and it won't fire the propagator- letting you break loops, wait on input, and probably shoot your foot. 1/3

If you're trying to *code products*, 'full stack' means you do everything required- so likely front and back end. If you're trying to *create products*, full stack may include design. If your trying to *build software companies*, then full stack includes product management, etc

@mmay3r It helps to not think about work as something you do, but instead-something that gets done. If the objective is to maximize the work that gets done, then we need to work 'hard' and 'smart'. i.e. get more done per time and work more time.

@kentcdodds Happy. Apollo has been great for most prop drilling. State is managed as locally as possible. More globalized state is passed through context. Annoyance is really just managing state across multiple views but not entirely global. Unsolved problem

Make your own here: - Put your variables in circles - Put your JS in squares (you can write a return or not) - Draw arrows from circles to squares with text that matches the variables - Draw arrows from squares sot the circles to be updated.

Visual programming is about more than how programs look. It's about how they are stored. A single structure defines all control and data flow possibilities, simplifying analysis, debugging, compilation, parallelization, distribution, decentralization, simulation, and versioning

As someone who has used GPT-4 heavily to code since day one... And... As someone who's going nuts building an automated programmer, I can say: GPT is far from acting autonomously on sizable codebases. You are safe until AI gets far better under the hood.
