This is wrong by three orders of magnitude. (Probably they mixed up grams and kilograms of CO2.) Netflix's 2014 data shows that half an hour of streaming uses 0.00065kWh, equivalent to driving about 25 feet:

I find that Navigate On Autopilot seems to take some interchanges dangerously slowly (e.g. 101 S -> 405 S); Autopilot slows to 45mph long before the interchange, while the flow of traffic is still 75mph. Is this slated for improvement?

This is not the intended solution (which is beautiful btw), but I'd argue that it still works, by changing the '=' to a '>':

My wife tested positive on rapids for 17 days, and now 6 weeks post-infection still has debilitating muscle soreness/weakness in her legs. Hyperbaric oxygen treatments are helping slightly. No risk factors, was in perfect health before. First infection, we’ve been very careful.

The average person only spends about 1% of their life in the womb, so while prenatal care might be good or bad at the margin it is unlikely to make a major difference in the overall quality of American life.

If you're looking for a mind-numbing statistic, there were more U.S. Covid deaths in Jan 2022 (~63k) than polio deaths in the ENTIRE 20th CENTURY (~59k). Just for perspective.

Wonderful, but please don’t wear it in the ocean!! Its primary active ingredient (ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate) is toxic for coral reefs, and it is banned in Hawaii for this reason.

The thing I find so amazing and inspiring about AlphaGo is that the team behind it (DeepMind) took an AI problem that all the experts estimated was 20 years from being solved, and CRUSHED it in 18 months. Most experts now assume L5-caliber FSD is 20 years off. Makes one wonder..

How do they know they won’t have side-effects from COVID two years from now? For the vaccine, we know because no part of it persists in the body longer than a few days. If it was going to cause long-term effects, it would cause worse short-term effects. But we haven’t seen any.
@wstafrican
@joaquinlife
I got the HPV vaccine a few years ago, at age 45. Incidentally, since age 15 I’d had a raised keloid scar on my knee, that was originally a wart. [Different HPV strain.] Shortly after getting vaccinated, the keloid scar vanished. I can barely tell it was there. Strange but true.

It continues with Gen 4. Kyogre has an 8-pointed tail (and 8 white “fingers”), Groudon has 8 spikes on each side of its body, and Rayquaza has 8 yellow circles on each side of its body.

Because she’s not an authoritarian would-be dictator who threatens the pillars of our democracy? And because her actual plans, if you take the time to read them, are actually quite good. (I don’t agree with all of them, but they doesn’t provoke my gag reflex like Trump does.)
@cremieuxrecueil
Not necessarily the case that this implies p-hacking. Studies are deliberately sized (“powered”) such that the anticipated result should reach but not drastically exceed the p=0.05 threshold. If you’re getting p=0.000001, your study is larger than it needs to be.

Thank you Pete. Set your notifications (or ask your team to, if they aren't already) so you can be the first to respond to these sorts of misleading posts. And btw Elon, you aren't helping SpaceX's cause with the FAA by alienating its chain of command with such disinformation.

This puzzle has a beautiful connection to perfect shuffles and non-transitive dice. Consider Carol, who sees the the twice-shuffled order 1, 5, 9, .., 2, 6, 10, … Eventually, e.g. Zeke will see the original order again, but each player has an advantage over the previous one.

Highway speed is about 30 m/s; light speed is 300,000,000 m/s. So when there are 10 million Teslas in the fleet (should happen by 2025), and they all drive on the highway simultaneously, that’s lightspeed.
@Grandpajoe42
Tons, not megatons! 7500T / 1700T = 4.4 G's, likely they would throttle down a bit towards the end, as they do with Falcon 9 boooster. So I'd guess 3.5 ish G's just before separation.

When are the final ballots actually printed? Do you expect he will outright replace Vance on the ticket, or just act as if he has?
@havetorunalot
Checking your math: the Tesla narrow forward camera has a 35° FOV with 1280x960 res, for an angular res of about 0.027°. The foveal angular res of a human eye (with perfect vision) is about 0.017°. So the human eye is marginally better, but not signifcantly; certainly not 50x.

My wife, an elite athlete, in her 40’s, was absolutely slammed by Covid a few months ago, tested positive for three weeks, was practically housebound for a couple months with long Covid, and is still recovering. It is not mild for everyone, even the young and fit.

I think it's wrong, because it makes a fashion statement and people might try to emulate your style by buying new furs. The most effective way to stop new fur items being produced is to make fur uncool.

Want to drink and drive? Totally fine. Personal choice👍 Stay off the road (or wear an extra seatbelt) if you’re that scared of drunk drivers.

If you are ever in an ambiguous or vulnerable situation like this, there is NO reason to EVER feel bad or guilty about saying no, or saying come back later, etc. If he's a bad guy, you've done the right and safe thing. If he's a good guy, HE. WILL. UNDERSTAND.

True for a very heavy flywheel, but in this case the effect on the Kia was almost completely from the wheel acting as a spring. Its rotational inertia had essentially nothing to do with it.

Yann is keeping it civil (and factual). Musk and Trump are the ones making it ugly (and full of distortions and gaslighting). Like Yann, I strongly support some of what Elon does (cars, rockets), but detest Elon’s political blunderbussing.

In general, don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. Rapid antigen is very helpful in many scenarios. But yeah, for a gathering like that they certainly should have done rapid PCR/molecular the day of.

It's not about living in personal fear. It's living with compassion toward those who are unable to get vaxxed yet (kids under 5, immunocompromised), and understanding that if I catch Covid, I could pass it on to them, even if I'm vaxxed. That is why I continue to mask.
@NateSilver538
I prefer an upper-case-c Constitutional system of government. Mueller referred the obstruction question to Congress, and the only Constitutional way to decide it is through the impeachment process. Trump may not ultimately be removed from office, but Congress must do its duty.
@WholeMarsBlog
Not to put too fine a point on it, but you don't find Trump and Vance cringe? FWIW, the drunk driving thing was 30 years ago, and Walz has been sober ever since because of it; that's pretty good atonement in my book.

Massive disagree. A $500 billion no-accountability no-transparency slush fund is the furthest thing from acceptable. I applaud Pelosi for blocking this.

, can we have an option to auto-save dashcam footage on hard-braking and/or forward-collision-warning events? And/or to customize the 1-hour overwriting interval? (Wish it were 6 hours.) Thanks!
Hey
@elonmusk
, can we get the ability to manually tag streets with lower speed limits? FSD always wants to barrel down my cul-de-sac at the nominal 25mph, even though 15mph is the fastest safe speed there. I have to manually adjust it each time. Thanks!
@TRyanGregory
Where is this mythical third candidate who checks every one of your boxes? Vote for the one (of the two options, given our electoral system) who is closer to your ideal, then politically pressure them to move in the direction you want. Trump is far worse on all three things.
@Connealy_MD
The 2% figure is from a cherry-picked list of the most deadly cancers, not “all cancers”. Utterly dishonest of you to present it this way.

Congress is up for (re)election as well. If Kamala wins, there’s a decent chance she will have a Democratic House and Senate to work with. Obviously her ability to pass this legislation is mostly dependent on that.
@DrHarryThomas
“Probably would have been safe for the other passengers” != “Probably would not infect the other passengers” (which is presumably what he technically meant). If I drive drunk tonight I “probably” won’t get into an accident, but that doesn’t make it safe.
