If you're buying natcats OTC be sure to check the block minted existed when it was inscribed For example, a mint for block 830,555 in block 830,551 won't be valid This applies to mints higher than 829,595. Blocks older than that already existed when natcats launched

@thecolorblocks_ There's already a metaprotocol that does this which may be of interest to you. @tap_protocol uses a similar technique as your proposal but uses the ID of the artist's deployment inscription in place of a sha256 for their support of non-arbitrary tokens (more on these later).

@GrimandMalice I might be wrong but I think it's behaviour inherited from the brc-20 spec via TAP. The indexer assigns the fungible tokens to you as soon as you mint and then the mint inscription is essentially useless. But in this case its not and instead forms the basis of your NFT.

@jakegallen_ @dmtnatcats Natcats use a specific pattern in the bits field for supply. Because the bits field value changes every 2016 blocks for target adjustment the pattern has only shown up 4 times in Bitcoin's history so far, resulting in a supply of 8064 natcats right now. The pattern could show
