hey guys just a general tip, if you don't like something, punching down by comparing it to AI is still a really shitty thing to do like you can voice dislike without insulting something that undoubtedly took several real artists a very long time to produce

Boring, character-less and looking straight out of generative AI. After so many years working on upgrading the skull Spinosaurus myself I can’t believe they went for something this generic. Worst thing that happened to the JP brand is Crash McCreery no longer doing dino designs.

and yes, there may be more work being done on saurophaganax - this does not magically change the nature of the holotype. even if the morrison tooth fairy appears and suddenly there's more giant allosaur material, if it doesn't overlap the (dubious) holotype, it's a poor diagnosis

@TM9380 there is one conclusion to jump to - they named A. anax on the postorbital, and then refer a handful of other postcrania, there is no overlap this is exactly what was done with saurophaganax

@TM9380 (i don't care about them breaking up and nullifying saurophaganax that's been a long time coming, it's just hypocritical to do so and then erect a new species with the same problematic practices)

@TM9380 A. anax is erected based on 1 (one) bone from saurophaganax, and then a bunch of that problematic material referred to saurophaganax got referred to A. anax without overlap, making it a massive mess of referrals
