She wasn't dressed to dance but she decided to dance to have fun. Meet my daughter Isabella.
We had so much fun today, thank you everyone for coming.
#christmasaroundtheworld
I've never been so uninterested in my birthday the way I am atm, I turned 30 in this hostel, I'm turning 37 in 16days and still in the same place. 7yrs of my productive life I'll never get back. It's time to address this endless wait for decisions from the dept of justice.
#EndDP
I don't even know where to start responding to your messages, you all got me emotional. Thank you for your well wishes. Thank you Ireland for this opportunity, I'm super grateful.
My kids reaction when I told them was priceless, they want to move out of DP today🤣🤣🤣.
"Direct provision is the Magdalene laundry of modern times" we've heard this for over 20yrs, what is being done to put an end to it? I have lived in this system for close to 7yrs, I did not commit any crime, why I have to be subjected to years of incarceration remains a mystery.
Dear minister
@HMcEntee
this is a tweet from an exhausted and distressed mum that has spent the last 7yrs in DP. The past few days has been exceptionally difficult, I've lost my will to hope for a better future. If anything happens to me, kindly take care of my kids. I'm tired😭.
I went to view a house in Roscommon today and it's everything I prayed for. I hope it is rented out to me. Y'all send all the Irish luck my way, I need it🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Death has paid my family a visit again, ah, this is unbearable. Got a call that my kids dad died last night.
This is so painful, we didn't work out as a couple but he was a good dad😥😥😥😥.
Sleep well beloved.
At the end of this pandemic, I hope everyone will agree that the direct provision system is nothing short of prison. A lot of my Irish friends are complaining about their mental wellbeing, that's the same way we feel in the hostels. Nobody deserves to be held for yrs in d system
This was how I showed up for thanksgiving service today. Life dealt me a lot of devastating blows this year but I take solace in the fact that I'm getting closer to leaving this hostel life and getting started with my life. BTW I sure look like minister for enjoyment.
#Thankful
Congratulations to me once again. This degree tested my entire being; I'm glad I didn't quit.
All the best to everyone who graduated at
@nuigalway
today, best of luck in all your future endeavour.
On this day 6yrs ago I arrived in Ireland with 3kids all under the age of 6 and a "Ghana-must-go-bag" filled with dreams and aspirations.
I'm not yet where I want to be but I'm thankful for every opportunity I've been given in this country, thankful for all the awesome people 1/1
Arrived back in Ireland today and I felt so honoured being welcomed by the immigration officer with WELCOME BACK HOME. My journey since arriving in this country hasn't been a smooth one but I'm forever grateful to this country for opening her doors to me and my kids.
#grateful
Any1 who knows me locally can attest to the fact that I used be a fan of morning runs in the park. Until I went for a run in the park and this weirdo stopped me in my tracks and asked how much I charge to sleep with men. I felt violated, suffice to say I never ran again till date
03/08/2014 I arrived in Ireland, dishevelled and oblivious of what direction my life would go. I'm grateful for the journey so far. I'm thankful for the gift of the awesome people who have been a part of my journey and I look forward to the next phase of my life outside DP.
It seems crazy to me that a New York cop who has never visited Ireland, but his Granny was born in Clare can get a passport vs a 10 year old kid born to Nigerian parents in Sligo cannot.
To everyone that followed me in the last 24hrs, this is just to let you know that I'm Black, an asylum seeker, a single mum, Anti racist, Pro LQBTQI, Pro abortion, Pro sensible ideas. You might find my tweets uncomfortable, please do block me for your own peace of mind✌🏾✌🏾✌🏾.
Dear Minister
@HMcEntee
I emailed you yesterday and I hope you get to have a look at it. In the last 2yrs I have received 2 awards from volunteer Ireland, not because I was a nuisance or a threat to the state, but because of my contributions. Detaining my kids and I 1/1
I don't think a lot of men get the drift when women talk about how unsafe they feel out here. If these discussions triggers your defence, you should ask yourself why? I think you men need to be as uncomfortable as possible to understand the magnitude of this issue.
It's my 37th birthday today, I don't know how I feel but all the same, I'm grateful for the gift of life and I look forward to a fruitful journey ahead. Happy birthday to me.
This was me few hours ago, my son had a 3.30pm appt in Castlerae, we had to leave on 1.57pm train, finished the appointment at 3.48pm and had to wait till 4.55pm to get back home. This is the life of Asylum Seekers in DPs in rural areas, access to driver's licence is a necessity.
This happened today, I wish I could show you their reactions when they saw the car, I was an emotional wreck. These children persevered through this journey without complaints, I'm so proud of how far we've come.
All my sweat went into the purchase of this car and it's worth it.
"Frontline worker and former direct provision resident Pamela is first black Miss Ireland"
Congratulations Pamela, a well deserved win. From being an asylum seeker to being a medical scientist,to Miss Galway, to Miss Ireland, I'm so proud of you👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽.
I emailed one of my lecturers at NUIgalway to request for something, I then told her I got my papers! I could hear her scream in excitement via her response to my mail. Thank you once again to everyone who touched my life one way or the other while I was waiting for my papers.
I have been an emotional mess since last year. My girlfriends got tired of my down spiral and dragged me out today. First, we claimed Croagh Patrick, and then we went to take a dip at Doolough Valley. My day was made😍😍.
Okay, this is a confirmation that I'm not dreaming, I'm officially a student of
@nuigalway
I'm having a glass of wine to celebrate this🍷🍷🍷🍷. Thank you
@BulelaniMfaco
& Lucky of
@masi_asylum
for the motivation and Evgeny Shtorn for guiding me thru' the process.
If your relatives are out there this evening intimidating vulnerable people accommodated in Travel lodge, when they get back home, tell them anyone can be a refugee, life happens to all of us and we all need a little bit of help. Their action is uncalled for and disgraceful.
I just broke the sad news to my kids and they seem to be handling it well so far. I've contacted a support service, should any of the kids show any signs of distress, we will be getting support.
I'm trying to stay strong for them.
Annnnnnddddddddd I got
@SanctuaryNUIG
scholarship. I'm so grateful for every opportunity I've been offered in this country and I appreciate everyone out here who supports myself and my kids in so many indescribable way.
Here's to masters degree in Gender, Globalisation and right.
Two Irish born children lose appeals over asylum and protection process. How can the government let this happen? 10yrs, 14yrs in the country only to be deported to a country they have no connection with? Where has humanity gone?
#stopdeportation
Are we posting St Stephen's day pictures?
I'm not going to lie, my entire life took a positive turn when my papers came. I'm now looking forward to a fulfilling year 2022, my wish for you is that your dreams and aspirations manifest.
Thank you for being a part of my story.
I took the kids out for a walk today, this is their first time stepping out of the premises since the 20th of March.
Dear minister, you see that tiny one, he came to Ireland at 9mths, he'll be 7yrs old in October, kindly get us out of here.
#papersforall
#enddirectprovision
Got a txt from the community school and I'm still in disbelief that my son started senior infants here is transitioning to secondary school and we are still in DP. Thank you
@DeptJusticeIRL
and
@IpatTribunal
you're doing a good job of robbing children of their childhood.
#tired
Do y'all remember the house I went to view in Roscommon? Well the house was advertised for €1,250, after the viewing, they took the advert down and I thought the well, a lucky family got it. Tell me why the house is back on daft for €1,500🤣🤣. Landlords are what again? Clowns!
I might be late to the party but I'm definitely catching up. I sat for the driving theory test today and I passed. I'm speaking positivity into year 2022, I'm vigorously going after my dreams and they will come to divine fulfilment.
#newtotheparish
#latetotheparty
I had a severe mental breakdown last year, I had zero will to live, I took a break from work, deleted all social media apps, and took an extended break from everything to focus on recovery. Thanks to the people
@SosadIreland
for their extensive support.
On behalf of every immigrant who are now at wits' end and in fear of our lives, I am appealing to the Irish government to look after their own people. Please take this unnecessary attention away from us. We only came here to better our lives, to be blamed for everything 1/1
Whoever told these keyboard warriors that asylum seekers gets council houses while Irish people spend 10yrs on the waiting list? This is just a decoy to incite hatred towards asylum seekers who are sandwiched in hotel rooms. There are over 1,000 asylum seekers that have gotten 1
Dear Minister
@HMcEntee
the department of justice sent me work permit today, this is a testament that they can as well issue my residency, in the meantime, I'll go in search of a job, hopefully you'll direct them to send my papers.
Thank you everyone for supporting me 1/1
See who got her transcript today, this Master's nearly finished me but I persevered, see who graduated with a 2.1.
This one is for everyone of you that walked this journey with me, thank you all.
My 8yr old will grab a mask without being told, he knows that times are hard and outside isn't safe at the moment. I'm surprised at the adults acting like they sentenced their kids to an inhumane treatment. Let us look after one another, this pandemic too shall pass.
On this day 7yrs ago, I arrived in Ireland with nothing but hope and aspirations. I'm not where I want to be yet but I'm grateful for the journey so far. Thnkful for all the kind hearted people that have supported my children and I since we arrived. Happy

Meet the frontline "SHEROES" at the Ballyhaunis centre, putting their lives at risk to take care of others. The next time you hear "our own first" remember these ladies didn't think about that before playing their part.

Now that we know we are being monitored by
@DeptJusticeIRL
this was my spending on school supplies today.
Do you know how many asylum seekers falls victims of randy men soliciting for sex just to meet up their children's needs?
Please get me out of this system, I want to work.
The first Black Taoiseach of Ireland, wouldn't that be a befitting portfolio?
Some angry birds will have a problem with this tweet but hey, I need you to stay mad, stay angryyyyyy👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽.

The way you childsplain to mummy that it's unfair to be the only one going to school today. Boy, just go on your merry way🤣.
Homeschooling this one was the toughest part of the lockdown, we were able to get by with the aid of his SNA, thank you Olivia, you both have a nice day.
Dear Minister
@HMcEntee
we are about to enter into a new wk, I'm here to plead with you once again to look into my application. Whoever has been designated to handle my application can issue my papers without further delay. I won't get those 7yrs of my life back bt I can move on.
If you see us in Dublin, say hi.
We are going to see the "something from there" exhibition at the National arts gallery, we will also visit the EPIC museum.
I hope I don't regret taking these tiny humans out though😂😂😂😂😂
I love my attire, my mum had it made for me years ago and I just dumped them someplace cos I was too conscious of what people will say. I wore it today and I got the compliments I never envisaged.
This is called boubou, made with adire otherwise known as tye& dye.
#CultureNight
Someone said Ireland is being invaded by "social welfare migrants." Meanwhile, virtually all the sectors of the economy are powered by the labour of migrants while some of you go out there chanting."Get them out." You need to get in touch with your humanity. This is disgusting.
Locals say they want answers as to why “no women and children” refugees were moved into the area and that “adult unvetted males” arrived with no consultation. Protestors in East Wall have blocked the road outside building that housed refugees that arrived last night”
#Dublin
I've encountered, thankful for the stability I've found, thankful for safety and most thankful that my kids are being raised in a "healthy environment" devoid of witnessing incessant domestic abuse. I'm hopeful for a brighter future🙏🙏🙏.
The victory dance after a 12hr shift, next, work placement duty, then round up Uni assignment.
Dear universe, you see all the sacrifices I've made over the years, let it be of benefit to me on the long run.
Good morning to only the kind hearted people of Eire.
#enddirectprovison
It is now officially confirmed that there's an outbreak of COVID-19 in the centre, all residents will be re-tested on Saturday. All I can say is, we are officially phucked🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️.
The senseless k!lling of a man for not "speaking English" in Ireland is by far the most insane thing you would ever imagine would happen in this country. May God grant the families fortitude to bear the loss.
I'm speechless 😥😥😥
I posted this last night and woke up to nasty quoted tweets as this🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Stay mahd in Jesus name. You and your cohorts whining about not being able to comment on the tweet are now blocked for 99yrs. Go and continue your wailing elsewhere, weyrey elenu shipoti🤣🤣.
Cake made by an asylum seeker, so much skills wasting away in

we've been advocating for an all inclusive

hopefully the current government listens. I hope when you see this, you'll realise that asylum seekers are not "charity cases"
Happy new year from the 3 beautiful people in this picture to you all.
I don't understand what the one with the googly eye was up to🤣🤣🤣.
May we all manifest greatness in 2022💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾.
This is a very special and heartfelt thank you message to all the teachers and SNAs out here. I hope you all have a happy holiday and a relaxing time with your loved ones, you've been such an awesome support to a lot of us out here. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
I'm sure by now the whole of the country would have seen the gymnastic video and the exclusion of that poor black child and yeah, we've heard you all this was not done in your name as usual. Dear parents of Black kids, protect your kids and save them from these kinds of trauma. 1
Dear minister, if you come across this tweet, kindly do something about this long wait. I've lost the will to keep holding on and hoping for a better tomorrow.
Yours Sincerely
Owodunni Ola Mustapha
As a senator occupying a public office, you should know that the international protection system doesn't work like this. It is pple like you who are responsible for inciting the likes of the unfortunate incident that happened in Dublin recently. This is an absolute misinformation
I received a call from an area in Westmeath where a family travelled from Bangladesh, flew into Belfast Airport last week, travelled down to Dublin to IPAS and were given their OWN front door for a NEW 3-bed apartment. They had resided in the UK for some time before travelling.
Media houses getting in touch to speak with me about I feel getting my papers, the papers came on a day that reminded me of my children's dad's demise, so it has been quite an emotional few days. I'm not emotionally ready to sit for an interview, I hope you understand my position
This is the first time in my 7yrs of being in the system that I didn't struggle to buy Christmas gifts for my kids and this is due to the fact that I started working. A lot of things can be done to make life easier for Asylum seekers without it being seen as a "pull factor"
I spoke to Clare FM about
#Christmas
in Direct Provision and was reminded of this piece. It can be a lonely time for people who have no family in the State.
#EndDirectProvision
My ministerial letter came today and I can't but imagine seeing mum soon. We're getting closer to making that a reality.
Thank you Ireland 🇮🇪
That's the tweet.
See who turned 8 today. The one who constantly reminds us that he's not a child😂😂, our recycled ancestor😜😜. Happy 8th birthday my darling son, mummy loves you forever and beyond.
Mummy's messy cake always to the rescue😍.
A little ish with the heart, I had a scan done earlier in the day. One more comprehensive check tomorrow and hopefully I'll be sent home. Btw I look better 2day
To the awesome lady that went and got my stuff from Ballyhaunis, thank you so much and thanks for the food and treat.
I stopped using the term "asylum" when my kids asks why we are in direct provision. I just tell them the person handling our file has loads of work to deal with and that's why we are still here. The system robs these kids of their childhood and self esteem.
I'm counting down to my 8th year in direct provision. I've met a lot people here who continues to ask how they may be of help, I don't know what anyone can do to help at this point, I'm exhausted already. Just to add that I'm not on deportation, we just continue to wait🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️.
My phone is buzzing with messages. I'm not an expert in Direct Provision System issues, I'm just an asylum seeker who had to make a choice of not allowing this system kill my dreams. Thank you all and thank you to everyone
@masi_asylum
for helping me find my voice.
#papersforall
The naturalisation process will never cease to amaze me. You have to have 1825 days of "reckonable residence" in Ireland. The 8yrs I spent in Direct Provision doesn't count towards this. As it is, I have 413 days of reckonable residence, meaning I still have 1,094days to go🤷🏾♀️.
I'm putting this out there for those reaching out to me to contribute to their show or research on Direct Provision, I'm not interested for now. I'm tired of telling the tales over and over again, it's tiring and traumatizing. I hope you all understand my plight.
I noticed my teenager no longer talk about one of his BFF, when I asked my son, he told me the boy calls him N-word and he has told him several times but the boy said "it's not his fault that he has potty mouth", so my son decided to stay away from him. 1/1
This is how I'm looking at parents throwing tantrums over mandatory masks for children in primary schools. What exactly is the colour of your problems? This is just a phase, it will pass.
Whatever you do today, please stay away from self acclaimed social media judges who thinks it's okay for someone to be killed in such a gruesome manner.
Imagine watching your child being killed before your very own eyes.
I'm still unable to process this!
Opening the school portal to check my marks and what did I see😳😳😳. I can't wait to round up these degrees. I'll never advise anyone to juggle 2 degrees at the same time, can't even begin to talk about the mental exhaustion.
In the court of social media, it is only migrants that commits horrendous crimes in Ireland, the amount of tweet expressing disappointment at the Gardai for releasing the suspect. Let the Gardai do their job and stop your stereotypical non.sense.
#BREAKING
Man arrested by Gardaí investigating killing of Ashling Murphy has been released without charge - "he has been eliminated from Garda enquiries and is no longer a suspect."
@VirginMediaNews
Son: mummy, RTE junior is for children
ME: I know, that's why I put it on for you.
Son: I'm not a child, I'm 7
ME: 🙄🙄🤦🏽♀️🤷🏾♀️🙄this is what you get when you give birth to your recycled great grandfather 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.
A little distraction from the ongoing situation. A lot of us actively got involved with
@masi_asylum
when a fellow resident in the centre invited Lucky to Ballyhaunis. Today, that lady packed up her bags and exited the system after 4yrs. We wish you all the best Celesta.
I don't know who needs to hear this, if you are angry at the system that held the late Mr Ali and his family for 12yrs, remember his wife and kids continues to be incarcerated in this system. They'll have to endure the mental torture of waiting for residency in addition to this 1
