(1/2) Hi Marin- Use of a black pen is recommended as it provides the darkest bubble. That said, if other colors are used, they are generally machine readable. We definitely discourage the use of gel pens, pencils, etc.
During our summer cleanup, we found a registration book from the rougemont area in Durham County that covers 1911-1923. Quite amazing how much elections administration has changed in 110 years!
