Creating a fair rota should involve the people working the rota. If your department struggles with rotas, please reach out to us via help

Yesterday, we generated a bespoke rota for an anaesthetic department with 37 trainees. 523 leave request submitted – 167 weekend off requests. 100% requested leave incorporated, and compliant rotas were successfully published.
Glad to see a new focus on improving rostering practices. Our innovative rostering platform has allowed 99.9% of leave requests accommodated this year. Hopefully this guidance by
@NHSEngland
should be an impetus for more departments to move away from archaic fixed rolling rotas.
The NHS is setting out measures to improve the working lives of postgraduate doctors.
These include improving payroll accuracy, reducing admin burden and enhancing choice and flexibility with rotas.

We let trainees submit their requests then create a bespoke rota around their requests. If they submit their request before we make the rota, 7 weeks before it starts, there's a 99% chance their request will be incorporated.

Our rostering platform does exactly this. As doctors rotate around the departments we cover we ensure a trainee doesn't work consecutive years. If a trainee is new we ask if they worked the previous year before we generate a rota.

Completely online based. Backend coded in PHP with an ever increasing mysql database. The cornerstone is a recursive greedy algorithm that creates rotas around peoples’ requests and preferences. It will try thousands of possibilities to get to an optimised solution.

We roster multiple ICU and anaesthetic departments in the UK. If you're rostered Xmas in one year then the system knows not to roster you for the following year even if you're working in a different department or trust. Making rotas fairer for rotational doctors.
“…Based on their feedback, we would advocate for continued use of
