@edenhelmi But you are probably right. We all know that. Immense harm to patients from unnecessary treatment and missing real diagnosis.

@davidantibiotic The meta analysis even more impressive. All the trials had risk ratio that crossed one, then the meta analysis showed significance for 90 day all cause mortality. The trial is informative. Continuous infusion has marginal clinical benefit.

If multiple airports especially connecting nodes do wastewater surveillance the probability of picking up a novel virus may be significant, a modelling study based on late 2019 early 2020 for SARS2. Lesson for next major epidemic or pandemic.

@SetteLab @bertoletti_lab We just went through a large JN.1. Most patients did not have pneumonia or need oxygen. Most hospitalized were frail elderly with minor illness triggered by a viral infection. Real world empirical evidence supports robust cross protective T cells.

Optimising antibiotic use to combat antibiotic resistance starts from right clinical diagnosis followed by right microbiology tests to guide antibiotic use. Feel free to share and use this e-learning module to teach medical students, doctors and any prescribers.

@raynerkjtan Do what you can. I used to do one monthly for reputable journals. Now I only review randomised trials in journals with IF>10. That reduces a lot of work. As young faculty you need time to get grants, do research, publish and give lectures so don’t overdo peer review😉.

Important lessons: antimicrobial stewardship is a programme like infection control, need multi-pronged approach, adequate resources, ongoing evaluation, respond to emerging issues (like carbapemenases), perseverance. Not overnight wonder.

@syctong @snap_trial Ok more controversial than I thought: World Bank rates it as UMIC, Wellcome Trust classifies it as LMIC😅
