@NatureNymph Yield would start increasing after calving. A cow on oad for say 4 weeks would suffer some yield suppression. A whole herd might average just 2 weeks on the regime, so small loss overall. Some herds milk 3 times a day to increase yield. Not many in Ireland mind.

@NatureNymph Oh, there would be a loss in yield with an early calving cow Oonagh, but over a whole herd for a number of weeks, it s pretty miniscule. Big saving on labour.
