It was 5am until 11pm door to door, but the other week, I flew up to the big smoke for the day to chat to @thaylock for a @Betfair_Aus Lay Back episode. Was great to be given the chance to showcase Form King in this way, and talk about 2 things I'm passionate about - Racing and Data. If you're interested in modelling, coding or racing data analytics, feel free to reach out to Tom or myself, and we'll give you a leg up ๐Ÿ’ช #Betfair #FormKing

Spot on. Someone(s) in a position to direct funds towards infrastructure and data either: - Believes participants don't want it and therefore not needed (unlikely). - Hears the cries from participants for upgrading track infra and accuracy of comms, web/data assets. Has made an executive decision not to spend in this area. Part of it can be put down to the utter failure of the state bodies to co-operate and thrust the sport forwards. But much of it appears to be wilful disregard for the needs of racing's participants and customers.

@daveystan1 @pferrari27 @J_Walter23 @racing_nsw Thanks Dave, I like the sound of that. No one wants a pile on, we just want someone to lay the first brick.

Agree Dave, I am not questioning your fitness for the role. Your comment, while I am sure was a bit of a throw away line, was careless. I don't mean to pile on, but I found it pretty dismissive. Sure, the core issue is much broader than this thread or any single instance or grievance. You're lucky enough to be in a great role where you get to do what you love, paid for by participants of the industry. As am I, as is John. My gripe about a lot of the stuff coming out of NSW is that no one on air is prepared to push the envelope a bit. As an outsider, it feels like there's a directive that certain issues are not to be talked about or given air time. I'd love to be proven wrong though. You've got the platform to be an advocate. Poke at some of these issues, provoke discussion about them on air - ask other participants what they want and then feed it back so it is heard. Ask the tough questions.

I don't want to comment on Dave's qualification, other than to disagree with his point. I would, however, like to see a bit more care and attention from @daveystan1, as person whose salary is wholly paid for by revenue from punters. Change starts with the first brick, and if we keep filling these roles with people who aren't prepared to uplift the product, then no change will ever occur. Punter's Intel, and other sectionals like those from the ATC website, are sadly wildly inaccurate as well. You might say better than nothing though, and so yeah it's a shame that they've just stopped providing them for many meetings, because it probably was better than nothing if you're doing it for yourself and able to smooth out some of the worst errors. Not everyone can afford to pay for the carefully corrected information (I couldn't until recently) and so one of the first priorities should be to foster growth by lowering the barrier to entry for all.

@AussieBenC @TrevPunter @PeterLawrence18 I tend to agree - it was a genuine 5, probably on the worse side of a 5 in the last 600m. That takes some doing in Summer with no rain.

@Feech123 @RSN927 @m_felgate Stable going below expectations for sure, but carnival just starting. I might be clenching late but he won't get a better chance. If he can't win this, then we can probably forget about him being a WFA horse.

Yeah Another Wils 1st up ratings are unusable IMO. He's won or run 2nd in them all, and was only last prep furnishing into a Group 1 handicapper. Brightside's 1st up ratings are no better than AW's last 2 runs in the Spring for mine. Won't get a better chance to pick off his 1st WFA Group 1.
