@AaronBastani @PatrickChristys @Nigel_Farage That’s a non-sequitur. Why should hardship mean hatred for one’s country? There was much greater hardship in the past but also a greater pride in being British. If those in charge were better able to articulate a positive narrative about the UK, the kids might change their minds.

@NicholasTyrone I’m sure something significant happened in 2020? Around March time if I remember rightly. Went on for a while and closed down the world economy. I’m clutching at straws here but maybe, just maybe, it might have had an impact?

@Dodge8444 No doubt. It’s not a straightforward matter of colonisers and subject nations in either case.

@Dodge8444 The Chinese example is interesting in the way it challenges the West. While it is strategic and exploitative, and its own workers tend to benefit as much as host countries in e.g. Africa, it is nakedly transactional too making it an attractive alternative to the domineering West.

@Fox_Claire @michael_merrick Though the system is swamped with demand not only is there, as you say, no interest in interrogating why. Those needs (whatever they might be) are not met and reflect wider problems outside of school. Meanwhile those with serious issues aren’t getting the support they badly need.

@johncosgrove405 @Miss_Snuffy ‘In 2022, 2023 and 2024 the value-added (progress) score at GCSE was the highest for any school in England.’ Is this not the case?
