An incredibly moving and well attended memorial in Stalybridge last night to mark 80 years since the D Day landings. Thanks to Peter Edwards and the Dukinfield & Stalybridge branch of the Royal British Legion, the veterans and the general public who made the event so special

One for the diary - a small commemoration service here in Stalybridge to remember such a historic event that changed the course of the War and helped bring to an end such a dark chapter in European history.

Its with great sadness that I have learnt of the passing of my friend Pete Rawson. Pete was Tameside Chief Engineer who rebuilt Ashton market hall following the devastating fire, built an interim replacement and re-engineered the canal in Stalybridge. I will miss him greatly

Here’s the line up for this weekends annual Stalybridge Bridge Fest music festival. Building on last years amazing programme this year promises to be even bigger and better. Big shout out to the Stalybridge Town Team who are leading on the event and all of the venues and sponsors

The scene a few days ago with several narrow boats on the canal running through the centre of #Stalybridge. One of the ambitions of the upcoming regeneration is to provide a secure central mooring section to encourage more boat owners to visit, stay overnight and enjoy the town

Down at Salford University on a glorious day to dazzle the top students with another red hot lecture!!

Lunch up at the #hiddengardenuk in Uppermill which made a grandmother proud to be served the delicious food and coffee by granddaughter Ciara. Fabulous cafe tucked away beside the river so well done to owner Rachel and brother Jack

This is incredible news for Stalybridge. Disappointed as I was at the original decision there was always a Plan B for regeneration within the town, this however will be a fabulous enabler and accelerator for some very difficult sites. Well done to everyone involved!

Good to welcome #TamesideMBC Mayor Cllr. Mike Glover to Works4U college Stalybridge to meet students currently carrying out all the bench refurbishment work for the Stalybridge Town Team. This is a super project with great community value and gives the students pride & skills
