What a wonderful way to commemorate Benjamin Franklin's work as a printer in London.
Celebrating 300 years since 19 year old Benjamin Franklin worked as a journeyman printer for Samuel Palmer in the Lady Chapel @StBartholomews, by printing on a replica of the 'Franklin press' on the same spot. Enjoy @CarlaSalvatore_'s photos & come along!

After Boston, Dickens took the train (cabs "like shabby omnibuses, but larger") to Lowell and then on to New York. Boston remained his favourite city. In 1867, Dickens was back in Boston, where he gave the first US reading of "A Christmas Carol" at Tremont Temple. End of 🧵

Of all the many books that @BacklistedPod has introduced me to, I’m probably most grateful for Riddley Walker. I’m almost certain I wouldn’t have come across it otherwise. It’s one of the strangest and most memorable pieces of fiction I’ve read in the last few years.
