Based on data viz research, we know position (think bar graphs) allows for more accurate estimates and comparison while area (think tree maps) results in less accurate estimates and comparisons. Learn more in my latest blog post: #DataViz #DataVizTip

When you make a heatmap in R, the default fill scale puts a dark color on the lowest value and a light color on the highest value. This goes against a meaning we perceive in color: darker means larger and lighter mean smaller. Fix it with scale_fill_gradient(). #RStats
