ਮੈ ਮੂਰਖ ਕੀ ਕੇਤਕ ਬਾਤ ਹੈ ਕੋਟਿ ਪਰਾਧੀ ਤਰਿਆ ਰੇ ॥ I am just a fool, but millions of sinners like me have been saved. ਗੁਰੁ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਜਿਨ ਸੁਣਿਆ ਪੇਖਿਆ ਸੇ ਫਿਰਿ ਗਰਭਾਸਿ ਨ ਪਰਿਆ ਰੇ ॥ Those who have heard (Gurbani), and seen Guru Nanak, do not descend into the womb of reincarnation again.

ਏਕ ਬਾਰ ਜਿਨ ਤੁਮੈ ਸੰਭਾਰਾ ॥ ਕਾਲ ਫਾਸ ਤੇ ਤਾਹਿ ਉਬਾਰਾ ॥ He, who remembers You even once, You protect him from the noose of death. ਜਿਨ ਨਰ ਨਾਮ ਤਿਹਾਰੋ ਕਹਾ ॥ ਦਾਰਿਦ ਦੁਸਟ ਦੋਖ ਤੇ ਰਹਾ ॥ Those persons, who repeat Your Name, they are saved from poverty and enemies.

Guru Ji fought many battles, but his intention behind fighting battles was never political, he did not fight to own a land or to increase his territory, like other kings. His main purpose was to preach Divine message, so fighting for materialistic gains was of no interest to him.

ਪਾਇ ਸਕੈ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਰ ਪ੍ਰਭਾ ਹੂ ਕੋ ਨੇਤ ਹੀ ਨੇਤਹ ਬੇਦ ਬਤਾਵੈਂ ॥ None could comprehend the limits of Your Glory, even the Vedas declare You as Great, Great! ਖੋਜ ਥਕੇ ਸਭ ਹੀ ਖੁਜੀਆ ਸੁਰ ਹਾਰ ਪਰੇ ਹਰਿ ਹਾਥ ਨ ਆਵੈ ॥ All the searchers have got tired in their search, none of them could realize Lord.

Guru Sahib was adept at the usage of weapons and archery. He owned the most sophisticated and exceptional weapons of those times. These are still present in Hazur Sahib, Nanded.

Guru Sahib is referred to as 'Sarbans dani', as he sacrificed his entire lineage (father, mother, four little sons) for fighting against oppression and tyranny. He considered the entire Khalsa as his sons and daughters, not only his four biological sons.
