Noah criticizing covid restrictions (in addition to him (kind of) praising Trump recently) is not a sign that he is becoming "based". It is a sign that the establishment wants to build enough unity in the country to go to war.

@adamtotscomix Genuinely have no idea why this is supposed to be demonic. I mean, the result isn't great, but I don't get how we get from that to demonic. Can anyone enlighten me?.

@TheAntifaTurtle Some people are pointing out that shoplifting causes businesses to raise prices, hurting all the other customers. While this is true, the main reason you should report shoplifters is simply that stealing is wrong and thieves need to be punished.

@jeremykauffman It's extremely simple to make that man's life have positive value: make it legal to shoot him for that kind of behavior. He will behave better.

@magdajtaylor People are in fact incredibly eager to blame every societal ill on iPhones, social media, and other internet technology. To the point that they will buy your claim with next to no evidence.

"Price gouging" is a scary term for a very good thing: prices increasing in response to scarcity. The higher price causes people to ration a highly demanded good, and causes profit-seeking firms to increase supply of that good.
This store in NYC was fined for price gouging. Was selling 8 ounce purell, which before all of this sold for $2.50, for $50 each, a 1900% increase (via @ninapineda7)

@Rothmus In all seriousness, I really think that the studio intentionally released it looking horrible in order to get an internet backlash then fix it for free publicity.

@checkmatestate If you think this was a politically motivated perversion of justice, doesn't it make sense to want the side that perverted justice to lose? Even if only to punish them for it in the only way you have power to?. Not saying you should vote Trump, just saying I get why one would.

@SallyMayweather A lot of people deserve credit, but the promise was made at an LNC speech that @angela4LNCChair took a lot of heat for booking. We have to acknowledge her enormous contribution to this goal.

@revenant_MMXX Sandwiches aren't real. People can't even agree on what does and does not count as a sandwich. It's at best a useful fiction, and at worst a misleading one. ^Replace sandwiches with something your political tribe wants to discredit and they will think you're deep.

@tsarnick The Italian futurists in the early 20th century said exactly the same thing, and they were just as wrong. We have cool new technology. That doesn't mean abandoning all traditions. It may even mark the resurgence of some traditional elements of society.

@ComicDaveSmith Libertarianism has nothing to do with "the will of the people". It has to do with the will of individual property owners. If landlords want to rent out to people from other countries and employers want to hire them, then you have no right to stop them.

Update: The Russian flag people were Tankies. Possibly also counter-protestors (there's no way they didn't know that the rally was mostly seen as libertarian, and that the Russian flags would make it look bad). But they conclusively weren't libertarians.

#NoLibertarianUnder1K is a great hashtag. Libertarians are a minority everywhere, and it can feel pretty isolating in some ways. Anything we can do to show other libertarians they're not alone is a good thing.

There are many bans that I oppose on the grounds of "sure, it's bad, but people have the right to do things I don't like.". This is not one of those bans. Lab grown meat is amazing technology and has the potential to be an incalculable benefit for humanity.

@jeremykauffman I wish leftist geopolitical theory was correct and it was all the megacorporations in control. If the entirety of Haiti became the private property of Walmart, it would be fixed in a week.

During the session with @jeremykauffman, the @FreeStateNH board raises some procedural complaints that seem crazy to kick someone out over. This clip, however, seems to show the real reason: Their largest donor has an issue with Jeremy's views on racially charged issues.

Caplan is taking heat for this, and even has a community note, but he's right. Most sources say ~60-70% of Americans are vaccinated against tetanus. So there are >60 million unvaccinated. Even unvaccinated, your chances of dying of tetanus are less than 1 in 30 million.
My doctor talked to me like a child when I refused a tetanus booster. This disease kills about 2 Americans per YEAR!.
