Happy 366th birthday, South African Wine! South Africa is the only country that can pinpoint the exact starting date of its wine industry, thanks to a diary entry made on 2 February 1659: “Today, praise be to God, wine was made for the first time from Cape grapes.”

Stretching out Christmas a little longer: last taste of @ErikaobermeyerW for the year (never a bad idea), superb Tulbagh fruit in @Paserenewine’s Marathon, @DBFwines with the grand family touch expected of a Finlayson, everyday Bordeaux showing no wear or tear 24 years on. #DRLW

And plenty of white delight: Santorini’s finest assyrtiko, the brand new Fairy Dust chenin blanc/palomino field blend from @KFwines (most exciting new wine to hit the #DRLW cellar this Christmas), and the heaven that is @SadieFamilyWine Palladius with heaps of grilled prawns.
