It’s important to cut through Spotify’s bullshit spin about this - it will benefit the major labels and no one else. No more money is being added to the system. But $40-$46 million will be shifted away from smaller artists/labels and to the majors. That’s all this accomplishes

Daniel put out an amazing album this winter - 7.9 review in Pitchfork, and every time I play it for people someone asks me what it is and writes it down - but this is what it feels like for him, and for so many working musicians. This has to change! We need to support our artists
