Today, I lost a patient while I was in the room. I watched it all happened from the moment the heart stopped to the compressions to the call to the clean up to the goodbyes. So I’m going to sit in this for awhile until the tears come or the sleep, whichever first.

Pap smear ( tissue for lab sample ) and pelvic exam are very different. Best way to identify fibroids are through ultrasound. Cervical cancer will not grow at a rate that you need to have annual tissue sampling. It can actually do more harm than good having multiple Pap smears.
Black women are DYING bc they are being misdiagnosed for fibroids and cervical cancer, meanwhile OBGYNs recommend a Pap Smear every 3-4 yrs?

My recipe for a good rotation for med students:
- feed them daily
- teach them 1-2 topics
- find them opportunities that they’re interested in (ie procedures, or looking at images with radiology)
- find them a connection in their specialty of interest
