Anyone following me knows the lore: my father ran a restaurant in San Clemente in the 70’s. Pat Nixon used to come and hold me as a baby. My parents were hippys. I made this a few years ago. Its a deeply personal piece.

Was inspired to paint this because I know from history how this all plays out.
On this day in 1918, the Romanov family is murdered by the Bolsheviks. Beyond the question of regicide, this became a signal moment in the history of Bolshevik rule. Administrative execution by shooting would become an indispensable tool of the Communist state.
