@mikalskuterud For the average to rise from 2 % to 7%, the marginals over the past few years must have been staggering!

@stephenfgordon I agree with you Steven. The argument usually isn’t made because it is a highly questionable position. I do agree that aging creates challenges for many of our policies, but that is quite a different matter!

@TroyWestwood @PierrePoilievre I have been critical of the PM and other ministers about their poor communication of the carbon price. But this is a complete turn-around. McGill doesn’t have A+grades but @JustinTrudeau gets an A+ on this. Full points for content, logic, and style.

@MaxBellSchool @VassB @denisehearn_ @mcgillu @McGillARTS @McGillAlumni I am delighted that Vass & Denise will be the 2024 McGill-Max Bell Lecturers. Their topic: why we need and how to get more competition in the Canadian economy -- a crucial issue that is not talked enough about in this country. @VassB and @denisehearn_ will do a fabulous job!

@mikalskuterud @CharlieHBuckley I saw no reason then, and I see no reason now, to think that increases in immigration can be the central plank of a growth strategy, at least not the kind of growth we should care about. I fought that fight on the Council and lost.

The @MaxBellSchool has just launched its third annual Jack Layton essay competition. And the topic of the year is .......how to get more competition in the Canadian economy to improve consumer choice and reduce prices? Can't wait to read the submissions!

@andrew_leach I agree with Andrew. If it is to be announced, it should be done in Canada, and probably in Alberta. But I would also argue that it shouldn’t be announced at all. Unnecessary. Politically explosive. Economically damaging. Hard to imagine a worse policy idea!
