Overheard in Los Angeles at a garage sale this morning: Conversation between 2 women started with Anti-Trump rhetoric regarding the “fork-in-the-road” memo to federal employees… Then (verbatim), “My sister worked at the FDIC, and they were trying to kill crypto. They shut down banks because of crypto.” Anyone remember Silvergate Bank, Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), and Signature Bank, each closed down in the spring of 2023? Isn’t the FDIC supposed to be impartial to politics? This is old news sure but quite concerning. Even though this woman’s sister doesn’t seem to be directly involved after doing some research, it details how de-banking of crypto companies/individuals was not only a directive, but an open secret within the FDIC. Reading @nic__carter’s article about OCP 2.0 initially a couple years ago, and then hearing this said in conversation this morning was pretty surreal. cc: @CaitlinLong_ @HaileyLennonBTC @pmarca
