I write code (mainly #ElixirLang) and I do martial arts. Sometimes I blog at https://t.co/owTqxv4Dfy

Joined July 2014
Over the last few months I've been in charge of deep data structure refactors on a big #ElixirLang application. I'll write a detailed blog post with the lessons learnt, but the most important takeaway is to rely on pattern match and guards as much as possible.

@DNAutics @davydog187 @atomkirk @elixirlang @wojtekmach It does and I use it in my Bun library (it just downloads the executable on the first run). Unfortunately, as @atomkirk said, it has multiple issues: no control for connection pooling, not great SSL handling (improved in OTP 26 though) and an awkward API.

Pull request merged! If you use difftastic by @_wilfredh with @elixirphoenix (you should! It is amazing) you will notice that diffs now recognise the ~H sigil syntax and highlight changes properly. #elixirlang #myelixirstatus

@davydog187 @atomkirk @elixirlang @wojtekmach I am thinking of something like Ruby on Rails ActiveJob which provides the basic spec and is then implemented by others such as Sidekiq, SolidQueue, Resque, etc. Libraries use the ActiveJob API and don't care for the actual backend (which may provide custom extra functionality).

The #elixirlang ErrorTracker has just surpassed 40k downloads. Codebase has been slowly improving and stabilising since the initial release. We just need a logger handler and then it can be considered "done".

@thibaut_barrere We are doing the same at work. Timex succeeded and Elixir core integrated most of its functionality. In my experience you can now do the same with Date/DateTime/Time and Calendar modules. ExCLDR can be also included if needed.

@elixirboy @lostkobrakai We do this at work as well. There is a “Current” module that wraps the process dictionary and then offers functions such as or Current.user.

This introduction to the jujutsu (jj) VCS by @cube2222_2 is the best I've read so far. I love git, but jj mental model is so much better. jj is to git what Tailwind is to CSS.

Can't wait! Shape Up changed my perspective on how to build good software well.
A new edition of Shape Up is coming in 2025! Here's what planted the seeds for another version six years later. It's a WIP, so if you have questions or have run into friction, I'd love to hear about it. We want to help as many different teams as possible.

@MasonDragos @stoolpresidente Italian food has better marketing than quality. If you want to find great food you need to visit Spain. Even better if you go to the north. The Cantabrian coast is a must.

@lexfridman @ThePrimeagen @dhh @taylorotwell A talk with @josevalim (#ElixirLang creator) would be amazing. Another with @chris_mccord (creator of @elixirphoenix) as well. You could even have them together. They are great.
