Transfer is complicated: we need to make the question of "are you intending to transfer?" the default during our advising, strive for good one-on-one discussions, provide clearly defined pathways, and streamline policies to have as few barriers as possible. #KYHigherEdMatters

Exciting day for #KYHigherEd. We announced the launch of which will help Kentuckians learn more about careers & the education/skills needed to pursue them. I am very proud of the Commonwealth Continuum which developed this idea into what we debuted today.

Bob has been not just an excellent president and supportive colleague, but also a great friend. I hope our back porch "beverage" breaks continue in this next chapter.
Congratulations and best wishes to @murraystateuniv President Bob Jackson on his retirement. The Council presented @PresMurrayState a resolution calling out his excellent service to MSU and to #KYHigherEd, which included being the convener of Ky's college president's group.

The actual need is for the graduate to have essential skills to make them a good fit and adaptable to learning technical skills. This is why Ky's institutions have been reviewing curriculum to ensure that students demonstrate these skills prior to graduation. #KYHigherEdMatters

No matter how smart you are, if you can't work with others or in a professional manner, you aren't going to stay employed. That's why CPE and KDE have prioritized embedding the essential skills into curriculum. #KYHigherEdMatters

Kentucky's financial aid allocation accounted for 21.3% total funding for public higher education in 2023 - meaning, for every $5 of state higher ed funding, $1 goes back to our students. We are thankful to those who make this state investment happen because #KYHigherEdMatters.

When we consider the student mental health crisis, we often think it "diagnosed" afflictions, but this data shows that stress is a big component. A good percentage of our students, whether considered traditional or non-traditional, work or care for family. #KYHigherEdMatters

Over the weekend, I got to visit with friend President Jackson at @murraystateuniv and receive an honorary doctorate at their commencement. While MuSU may be far away, I treasure the good, close relationships I have with staff, & am very appreciative of this distinguished honor.

Dual enrollment - a great way to save time & money - but we have a gender disparity when it comes to participation. We must continue to expand access, advising & partnerships between institutions-employers to make these programs attractive to all our students. #KYHigherEdMatters

This is why CPE has integrated workforce into its operations, to build those collaborations, partnerships and networks because employers are desperate for skilled workers but are not connecting with our students. #KYHigherEdMatters
