2024 - The year I left my Job In February 2024, I got a huge appraisal. It should’ve felt great, right? But it didn’t. I realized I wasn’t excited. I was just coasting, doing a fraction of what I could. If that was enough, was this all I wanted to do? Around that time, I got into poker, and something clicked. I noticed how even friends from top colleges struggled with basic math. It wasn’t just them - math anxiety is everywhere, in kids and adults. It made me think: math has always been a sport for me. Could I make it a sport for everyone? This is when the idea for @matiks_play started. It isn’t just about math - it’s about a question I’ve been asking myself for years: Can math be fun for everyone? It's this answer I chase now. So, we started small. Teaching mental math to kids. Sharing my ideas online. And the response? Incredible. Kids loved it. Adults loved it. The idea of competing with friends made math exciting for everyone. By September, I knew I had to go all in. I quit my job and decided to focus on Matiks full-time. This has been building since I was 9. Matiks feels like it is a culmination of what my life has been about. For now, we’re starting small - making mental math fun and competitive.
