being a point guard isn't just bringing the ball up , it's being a decision maker , a leader ,getting touches constantly in the half court because your teammates trust you with the ball in your hands to make plays
Clark forced a really tough two , couldn't have guarded him any better. Louisvlle was impressive throughout, need to be a Goldfish and beat Indiana tomorrow.
Ty-Laur is a play maker , love his pace , splits ball screens , crafty . If Louisvlle can make a commitment to the defensive end in the second half , eliminate live ball turnovers , they have a chance.
Struggles on the defensive end against an offensively challenged Coppin St. Squad . Getting set in transition, ball screen indecisiveness , blow bys , need to lock in with Texas looming.
On the pre -game show I talked about how Louisvlle needs to start switching the naked side ball screens rather than soft doubling against Virginia , it amazes me how that continues to be a major issue for them defensively .
Sprint back like your basketball life depends on it ...every make or miss , get set , talk and point , matched , and then guard ! Louisvlle can score , they just don't have a defensive mindset.

As they scrambled back in transition, they didn't know if they were in man or zone , no one commands the ball , and an easy layup . Inexcusable.
Here at Louisvlle's last exhibition basketball game against Kentucky Wesleyan , will post some clips tomorrow and looking forward to seeing "team growth" from 12 days ago .
Sending out some film breakdown shortly of the exhibition game vs Simmons on Lock, Stock and two smoking hot picks on YouTube/ Louisvlle ESPN + and Twitter !
I'd like
@CardChronicle
to write something snappy for me as I'm watching Taylor Swift's Eras show on Disney with my little one instead of Hoops ( she beat me in Rock, Paper , Scissors)
Watching the game ( Pickleball and daddy / daughter time earlier ) defending Ball screens/ handoffs , James needs to blow up the handoff , Evans is dropping to deep, and BHH has to be off and over to buy recovery time . Leads to a pick and pop 3 for the Mocs first bskt
Too much back pedaling in transition defensively ( that's an absolute non -negotiable for me ) doesn't let you redirect the ball and allows shooters to run to spots
Can't have your defensive players step towards the basketball on a 3 attempt , step towards who you are guarding and hit ! long shots long rebounds, that happened continuously, and that allowed the second chance points for KW
Wake Forest is really making Louisvlle pay with the soft doubles on the ball screens , one extra pass by the Deacons has led to a plethora of open 3's .
@CardChronicle
@Andrewieville
Their ball screen defense has been inconsistent to say the least , it's been an issue for the other 3 involved as well ,not just the 2 involved with the coverage , but late on tags , scrambling out , plugging the roller ...
@CardChronicle
When you have a point guard that will get you the ball where you want it , it's easy to see how hard guys run to spots and expect the pass .
Louisville would be best served fronting the post , they've quartered and played behind . This allows them to attack blow bys and stunt or take charges . And it eliminates foul trouble . Making it a foot fight ( battling with your feet to get around) rather then a fist fight
Louisvlle is in the bonus , getting to the free throw line settles down an offense , and allows you to set your defense... stop settling for tough , contested twos.
