Coaching a kid on the floor is amazing. But coaching kids through LIFE is even better. Counseling & Coaching are synonymous to me. They both feed off of each other. Man I love it here! 💛🖤
God is intentional. Thanks to my family, mentors, friends, former players/parents, & VHS faculty for support. The past month has truly shown me this brotherhood that is coaching. So, much gratitude to all the coaches who gave me encouragement & guidance during this process.

Anytime I hear complaints about playing time, stats, etc after a WIN….I know your head not in the same place as mine, so I’m automatically tuning you out. Poison.
We preach it to players, but coaches must always remember our WHY. No matter how much success we have, kids we help, work we put in, we’ll never please everyone. So focus on YOUR why, the purpose that you’re pursuing, and most importantly young men’s lives that you’re impacting.
Man I am blessed and excited to announce our staff for next season. If they didn’t know, they’ll know now. THAT WORK GONNA SHOW!

For 3 years its been killing me, and don’t understand how college coaches who played college ball and were small guards…will turn around & not give at least a solid LOOK to a small guard. Obviously a coach took a chance on you, but you’re not willing to do the same? Crazy 🤦🏽♂️
Cats win the consolation bracket championship game at the Fleming Island “Battle of The Island” Tournament led by ‘22 PG Cam Edmonds who avg. 16.5ppg

Congrats to the man in the middle
@JacarriusP
on making GACA South All-State! The most dominant player in Region 1-6A and one of the best leaders I’ve ever had the pleasure of coaching. Signed to NC STATE early & still gave us everything he had. Well deserved. Love ya big fella!
C/o ‘21 6’1 CG Dorrien Douglas is one of the best players in GA, and has shown it all season. Game winners, wins vs Power 5 signees, shutting down opposing lead guards, IMMEDIATE IMPACT PLAYER.

To reach this mark as 2nd year HC is truly humbling and a blessing. Our regular season has come to an end and I can reflect on accomplishing one of our goals. I couldn’t be more proud of and thankful for my kids, my staff, & all of the people who give us unwavering support.
We started last season on nobody’s radar/pre-season list....ended it 22-4 and with a little hardware. All we know is getting it out the mud. So we’ll see y’all soon enough 😈.

Safe to say we’ll have a another Region MVP and All-State Guard this year 😮💨….I cannot put into words how proud I am of this guy. Imma say a whole lot on Monday though.
Man Jamie Philips from Winter Haven is a special player. I’ve seen him 4-5 times this summer and he is consistently dominating the game with passing AND scoring.

I don’t believe in quality losses. But I’m proud of my guys effort today. Short handed we pushed a nationally ranked team & just ran out of gas. Anytime you walk in alone & leave with fans you did something right. There’s no progress without struggle. Best believe we’re coming 😶🌫️
Before we hit the road this weekend we just wanted to highlight some of the Cats who have been making waves this Spring. Prospects in every class, this is a very talented group.
@ValdostaHSBball
Cats defeated Colquitt County last night 86-56 to set up the matchup for
#1
seed tonight in Camden County.
11 different Cats scored for a great overall team win on Senior Night.
We are Ready.
EVERY parent and prospect in the 2021 class should watch
@Lovethegamepod
Ep.88 from last night to fully understand recruitment RIGHT NOW. Because I don’t think the kids understand the urgency this year and last.
EVERY HS player who wants a scholarship needs to hear this. If YOUR coach critiquing your game offends you then hang it up. It takes a work ethic most players aren’t mentally tough enough to maintain to get an O. If you aren’t mentally & physically locked in then hang it up.
Congrats to these guys for being named All-Region 1-7A. Very proud of the work they put in, and it has shown night in and night out.
Defensive POY: Israel Jenrette
Impact POY: Jabarri Williams
1st Team: Eric Love
2nd Team: Grant Jackson

Official Fall Mix for Valdosta High ‘21 CG Dorrien Douglas. 1 of the hardest working players I’ve ever seen, a true gym rat. True 3 Level Scorer, Cerebral High IQ Guard, Crafty Ball handler, Extremely Versatile tough defender because of his strength.
@Dorrien_5
@vhsbasketball01
Learned a lesson in preparation after taking a tough loss to the eventual bracket champs in game 1…..but showed grit & resilience bouncing back to win 3 straight and the consolation bracket. Growing tougher, smarter, and closer daily. 🤞🏽
@ValdostaHSBball
Seeing this guy’s growth and grind payoff has been one of the highlights of my career. He did it the right way EVERY day. Great player, even better person. Definitely going to miss him. 🤝🏽
@CamEdmonds5
@ValdostaHSBball
I really wish parents & casuals truly understood how HARD it is for a kid who isn’t a freak athlete or physically gifted with size to receive an offer to a 4-year university fresh out of HS in BASKETBALL. Talking about beating the odds.Real BLESSING if the opportunity is granted.
Heard the big fella is avg 16&14 at
@thetipoffclassi
so far. Coaches should buy stock now. The next 12 months for ‘24 C Israel Jenrette will be exciting.
@israeljenrette1
There’s a difference between a player and a prospect. If your WILL to do the right things day in and day out does not match the “want” to go to college then you don’t truly “want” it as bad as you claim. Nobody said the road would be easy, but it’s worth it.
Cameron Edmonds…3.66 GPA…5’11 PURE PG averaging 17ppg/8asts/3steals since December. Kid is a WINNER. True 3 level scorer, Tough, Tenacious, PNR Killer, and plays the game time right way.
REGION 1-AAAAAA Player of the year for a Reason. Scoring Mix Below.
@CamEdmonds5
Hats off to
@Mj_taylor3
on his performance tonight in the 1-6A region championship. He was UNREAL. Definitely has a bright future at the next level, much respect 💯!
Had the opportunity to take some of my guys to ”The Throne” yesterday at Morehouse.
The wins & losses one day they’ll forget. But the memories of experiences like this they’ll carry for a lifetime. Some of us Coach to impact games, others Coach to impact lives. Brick by Brick…
‘25 PG Jabarri Williams will be at

Sweet 16 Session I with
@TeamGAMagic
16U this weekend. 2x All-Region, Pure PG who fills it up quickly from all 3 levels and is a pitbull on defense.
Trust your eyes, and don’t be late to the party…He is ONE OF THOSE ONES ‼️
One thing about it….when you go to Albany it’s going to be a tough environment every time. Our guys showed them we are apart of the 229 hoops circle too. Very successful and gritty day for the program. Back at it tomorrow 🥶
#Thesouthgotsomethingtosay
I made our schedule to be full of games Vs. high quality teams,but also high level individual players so my guys have tape vs solidified prospects in their class/position across the state
My question is do college coaches REALLY care who the tape is against when requesting film?
This kid can lock up your best player 94ft and give him 20+ on the other end. He has the film to prove it. Spot up, off the bounce, to the cup, right or left, one or two feet, floater or pull up....there’s nothing offensively he cannot do.
Class of ‘21 PG Melvin Smith
@Melvin_Smith2
(Valdosta HS) checks all the boxes you want in a Lead Guard:

✔️ High level defender
✔️ Facilitates
✔️ Makes open shots

C/o ‘21 6’0 PG Stanley Haliburton is a STEAL for any program.Extremely crafty floor general who shines in PNR & Transition.Also is a menace on defense by completely shutting down opposing lead guards

Growth does not happen on accident. Growth is intentional. It’s not easy, it’s not smooth, it’s not fast, but it is worth the effort. The hardest battles are the ones that are internal. Keep going.
2024 6’9” F/C Israel Jenrette (
@israeljenrette1
) out of Valdosta had glimpses of showing what he’s capable of doing for a program. Great size and athleticism; showed he can take over inside. High ceiling prospect to track this spring and summer.
Cats advance to the Region 1-6A Championship for the 3rd consecutive year defeating Houston Co. 69-56. Cats were led by juniors Cam Jackson (20pts) & James Siplen (19pts) on a combined 9 made 3’s. Along with big man J.Peak 14pts/8rebs
